  1. 1. The features that I like the most about Apple’s lightning cable is that it is reversible, so you can insert the cable both upwards and downwards to charge your phone, and it can also be used to transfer data and transmit audio.

    2. To make Apple’s lighting cord better, I believe it should have better build quality, as their $20 cables are prone to bending at the neck of the lighting connector very quickly, as there is not much support in cable shroud.

    3. I like that the USB C cable is able to transmit audio, transfer data, be used in replace of HDMI, and be used as a charger, all while being inside a compact and reversible port. It is also able to support 10Gbps data transfer, where the iPhone does not take full advantage of the USB 3 data speeds.

    4. I wish that USB C was more widespread, but it is continuously progressing to become the standard, due to its expansive capabilities.

    5. I would greatly prefer to use USB C, as you would not have to carry around multiple cables to charge your device, use a monitor, or transfer data and audio.

  2. 1.Connector was created to complement the thinner iPhone 5. It takes up significantly less real estate in the phone, which needs every centimeter it can get to make room for the larger battery needed to support 4G LTE service. While the inconvenience of the new connector might give some loyal iPhone fans pause, there’s still plenty to love about Lightning.

    2. Well I would try to work with video setting and letting the lighting cord to support video output and updating to usb 3.0 with a faster speed but with one cord I would try to increase to more cords to help with other device .

    3. The USB-C to USB Adapter lets you connect iOS devices and many of your standard USB accessories to a MacBook with USB-C port or MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports. They allow for faster charging as the ports can accept up to 100 watts of power, meaning the new Chromebook can save 2 hours worth of charge after being plugged in for just 15 minutes.

    4. Well I would extend more ports or have more cords to help with apple or chromebook but that would be all for it and put a protection policy for the cord with viruses and dis claim that cord unleash a virus.

    5. supporting evidence) I would say the USB type-C because with the 100 watts power that can help my phone charger faster and I would have to for a couple minutes to wait when it's done charging

  3. 1) The lightning is thinner for the iphone 5 which is supposed to make it "innovative" and easier to store. I don't mind these features, but what I think is interesting is how the charger is reversible so it can transfer data as well.

    2) I would make it bigger so that the iphone 5 can charge faster and support video output.

    3) The USB-C can plug into multiple devices with one port and just 15 minutes worth of charging can save 2 hours which is really good in my opinion.

    4) The USB-C should be more extensive, meaning I wish it could connect to more devices which would allow for peak performance.

    5) The USB-C would be my preferred choice because of its capabilities as a charger. With all that power, my phone could charge in no time.

  4. 1. The apple lightning cord is small and thin, which makes it easy to keep in a smaller space, or carry around in your pocket. Although, this may lead to the cord being more fragile, as well as the plug itself, but still it is relatively durable.

    2. personally, i really like the lightning cable, maybe the only thing i would change is give the cable a flexible head, so it can reach the phone at harder to reach angles without damaging the cord.

    3. i personally do not use the usb-c because i have all apple products, but i do know that it can transfer power as well as audio and the likes of that.

    4. Make it compatible with apple products.

    5. Personally, i prefer Apple's lightning cord, but that is because i have apple products. If the USB-C was compatible with apple products, i would use it.

  5. 1. I do not use the lightning charger for anything but charging my iphone. I do not know many of the features of the lightning charger except that it can charge my phone and transfer data.
    2. I would make the lightning charger not break as easily. The lightning charger for me can break really easily and doesn’t last as long as I would like. I would also make the charger charge my phone faster so I do not have to wait as long.
    3. I like that the USB-3 can transfer data faster than the apple lightning charger.
    4. I would make the USB-3 charge faster than it does because that would be more convenient for me.
    5. I would prefer to use the apple lightning because it is what i am used to and it is more compact.

  6. 1. The features I like about the apple lightning is that it is lighter in weight which makes it easier to grab and take with you places. I also likes that it is meaning there is not a wrong way to plug in your device it will work either way. It also can be used to transfer data and transmit audio.
    2. I would make the product more sturdy. They break easily at the head. This has been very frustrating for me. I have gone through a number of cords due to this issue. It would be great if they could figure out how to make the head more durable but keep it light weight.
    3. The USB type C allows for super fast charging. They are small, easy to plug in and reversible as well. The head is more sturdy because the entire cord is thicker. They do not break as easy as the apple lightning.
    4. USB Type C does not connect to many devices which is limiting. I would want them to change this and make it so it was more universal and worked with most if not all devices.
    5. I would prefer to use the USB C because it is more sturdy and charges devices quickly. Both of these features are very important to me.

  7. 1. Good things about the lightning cable is that it is smaller and it is reversible. This makes the cable easier to carry and it makes it more efficient cause it wont matter what side the cable is it will still work. It is functional and can be used for audio, data transfer and etc.

2.Make it support video output. Make it faster because it is not as fast as USB type c. Make it more compatible with other devices. The most important thing they should change is the build quality of the cable because the cable always gets messed up relatively easily.

3.It is smaller than the older cable. it is reversible. It can be used for superior audio. It transfers data really quickly. It also has quick charge and that makes things a lot more convenient cause my phone will be ready to go much quicker.

    4. If it was compatible with more devices that would be great. Also not every body uses that cable so if you have to borrow one its hard to find sometimes.

5.I prefer USB type C because it is compatible with more devices. It is a lot more durable then apples lighting cable. The most important things is that it is compatible with android which is my favorite type of phone so ya.

  8. 1. I ike the feature of how it's smaller now. By having a smaller lightning cable I can do things with it that I couldn't normally do with a regular lightning cable. For example, instead of putting my lightning cable in a place like some sort of weirdo, I can put it in a small place because it is smaller now and, therefore, better.

    2. What I would add to the lightning cable is not really an addition at all but I would actually take more mass from the cable as a whole. I would make the device 2 micrometers in length and width so that I would be able to take it anywhere where a 2 micrometer lightning cable is applicable.

    3. I like how it charges super fast. Like if I have to get to my mother's funeral in a hasty amount of time, my phone will be charged super fast. What a great invention.

    4. I would add a feature so that when I'm running late to my mom's funeral, my mom wouldn't actually be dead.

    5. I would prefer to use the lightning cable because in the timeline where I'm actually rich enough to afford an iPhone, my mom isn't dead. Also I like small cords so that's good.

  9. 1. One of the best and most useful features of the lightning cable is probably it being reversible, by it being reversible I mean that either way you plug it into your iPhone it will go into the iPhone if the cable is upside down or not upside down. Another really nice and handy feature of the lightning cable is that the cable can transfer data and even transmit audio, so it is kind of similar to an HDMI cord. It is also more compact and ergonomic than the older iPhone charging cord.

    2. I think a very good and practical way to make the lightning cable better is by making the build quality increase, because with my lightning cable the front of it bent, so it did not work anymore which really sucked so I had to go out and spend like $10 on a new lightning cable and this one is starting to bend again like my last one. In addition to the build quality being better, I think they should also make it cheaper so if it does break it is easier to replace. Apple should also make the lightning cable more flexible so it is less prone to breaking like mine did.

    3. I have read and heard about how fast the USB Type-C cord charges any device extremely fast which is a very handy and nice feature to have considering, instead of waiting like 3 hours for my iPhone to charge it would take maybe like 30 minutes to charge, which I personally think is very nice. In addition to the USB Type-C cord being very fast, it is also reversible, just like the Apple lightning cord which is really cool so no matter which way you plug it in it will automatically work unlike curring USB’s it only works if the cable is plugged in the right way.

    4. To make the USB Type-C cord better for me I would probably make it compatible with all Apple devices so it would work with my iPhone, because from what I have read USB Type-C is much better than Apple’s current cable the lightning. Furthermore I would also make it to where every device uses USB Type-C because another big downfall of USB Type-C is that it is not used by very many devices, which is a very big negative and as far as I can think the only really big negative, because the USB Type-C is good in almost every other way.

    5. I personally think I would rather use the USB Type-C charger instead of the Apple lightning charger. I say this because I have read and heard about the USB Type-C charger and that it charges much much faster than the opposing lightning charger from Apple. Furthermore USB-Type C can also transfer audio and video unlike the lightning charger, and the USB Type-C does it very fast which is another good thing about it. The only thing that is stopping me from using USB Type-C is that it is not very commonly used at all, and Apple does not use it either and the only thing that I ever really charge is my iPhone so I would not really have a need for the USB Type-C if Apple did not use it.

  10. 1. The Features I thought were neato where was its usefulness, it is reversible, can be used not only to charge but also to transmit data. Its also smaller so it's easier to store, I can't say I ever had a problem with storing my USBs but hey, it's still cool.

    2. I would like them to be more sturdy. I find that USBs will wear out after a good bit, but I always hate having to get get new ones, so if they make the Lightning more indestructible.

    3. I like that it has many of the same features as the Lightning, with even more. It has really fast charging speeds, which, I'm not going to lie, is something I really like from my chargers. It can also connect to multiple devices from just one port.

    4. The same thing as the Lightning, I want it to last me until my device breaks and then some.

    5. I would prefer the USB Type-C as it just seems to be a Lightning but with more features and less down sides.

  11. 1.The features that I like about the lighting cord are that it has a smaller connector design, and especially because it is reversible, you do not have to struggle looking which way it goes. You can just plug it in without no struggle.

    2. I would say to make them more better, Apple can up their quality on the charger because the tip is always bending or ripping off. I am already on my 3rd charger because the rest have been ripping or falling apart.

    3. I like that they can transfer data 5gb per minute I find that very interesting. Another thing that I like is that it is very similar to the Apple Lightning Cord, it is reversible, I would say that every device should include a reversible charger because it can come in handy.

    4. An improvement I would suggest is that they can charge faster, I would really like that, another would be that it is magnetic because if you trip over it it would just disconnect and it wont take the charger and the computer.

    5. I would go with the USB Type-C because it charges much fast than the Apple Lighting Cable, it also transfers data unlike the Apple Lighting Cable.

  12. 1.) I'd say the most useful feature of the lightning cord is its ability to differentiate between what device it is plugged into, removing the frustration of having to manually adjust anything you would have to when plugging into a different device, such as a laptop or a smart television.

2.) Though I don't use Apple products, from what I can see the Lightning could very much afford to be faster, as the website said there was only a 4.5 second difference compared to other chargers, which is obviously a small gap to bridge.

3.) I big advantage I'd say the USB-C has is its ability to charge more than one device at once, coupled with its efficient charging, which means your devices will be far more readily available after only a short time of charging, such as the Chromebook saving 2 hours after just 15 minutes of charging.

4.) The fact that viruses can easily get through the USB-C is a major problem, as any professional users could be royally screwed if their computer were to be scrapped because of a charger failing to be secure.

5.) The USB-C would be a pick for me in my opinion, as while both charge much more quickly as they used to, the USB-C outpaces the Lightning, as well as allows for data transfer, which the Lightning cannot do.

  13. 1. I find it interesting that the Lightning cable is reversible. But does it really need to be reversible? Does that help file transfer, or charging speeds at all? And if the connections only work for one side but not the other, it completely defeats the purpose of making a unique cable except to be Apple and charge you $30 for something that is no better than the version previous.

    2. It's absolutely laughable that Lightning is still a USB 2.0 cable and not 3.0. It certainly does not live up to the name "Lightning", especially since we now also have USB 3.1 to choose from, which is even faster still than 3.0.

    3. Again, it is interesting that the cable is reversible, but I honestly question whether or not that is any aid to the connection, unless there are receiver points on both ends of the port. If one side is lacking in reception, the reversible nature of the cable becomes pointless.

    4. Was there a problem with using plain old USB ports on a computer? Just leave a portion of the laptop for a dedicated charging cable, and just connect that to the wall through a high-gauge USB cable if you're that worried about it.

    5. I'm gonna sound like a total PC elitist (which I kind of am), but give me USB 3.1, HDMI, and a direct-to-wall plug; I really don't care much for either of these "solutions". Condensing file transfer, display connection, and charging is absolutely ridiculous; if you need to do all three at once but you only have two ports--or even worse, one-- you are going to be unavoidably bottlenecked unless you fork over some extra cash for an adapter that completely screws with the form factor. Have one port for each on a computer, that way you stay unrestricted.

  14. 1.) The main feature that I appreciate that the Apple Lightning cable has is that it can be plugged in facing either side. The previous cable was a hassle to deal with, especially in dark situations where you don’t know which side the sign is facing. It is much smaller and easier to connect to devices as well. The Lightning cable also claims that it is “intelligent” by detecting which product and to which source such as an outlet or computer which is unique in a way. This helps determine what mode it should be in whether it is for charging purposes or just to sync to a computer for file transfers.
2.) Some improvements I would like to see get done is the strength of the exterior material. Where the connectors are, sometimes the material rips from the bending or stretching of the cable which is a daily problem. If this issue was improved on, then the lightning would last much longer to the user as well as save them a few bucks without buying other charging cables. I would appreciate it if Apple made their cable a bit faster for charging when people are in a hurry and need the extra juice for their daily activities.
3.) While reading up on some of the pros for the USB Type C cable, I found it interesting how much power that cable can access and transfer to laptops. This is definitely a major key for portable computers since they constantly need to be charged in order to go on throughout the day. Another feature that caught my attention was the transfer speed. Some android phones have already started using the advantages that the USB - C cable has to offer with faster charging and file transfers which is a plus for many phone users.
4.) Some disadvantages of the USB - C cable is that there needs to be more than one in order to fully multitask correctly. In many cases, the USB - C port on a computer would be used for charging the device which in terms would not be for long but if you want to transfer files to the computer, you need more adapters to the cable which is a downside. The cable is great under some circumstances while in others it is a bit tedious to deal with.
5.) When choosing between these two cables, I would prefer the Lightning cable by Apple. The main reason I choose this cable is because of its ability to be used in other circumstances. It can be used for charging a device for used for transferring files. While for the USB - C connector, there needs to be extensions to the cable in order to receive its abilities for file transfers depending from device to device. For me, I would be able to put up with the slower transfer and charging speeds that the Lightning cable has. In a way, I won’t be able to overcharge my devices overnight and damage the battery over a long period of time. Yes the USB - C is faster but at the price that it requires extensions for other devices which some people would lose and in my opinion not worth having for.

  15. 1. A thing I like about the Apple Lightning connector is that is smaller than the 30-pin connector. I still use an iPhone 4 so I still have to struggle with the charger being very bulky. Another thing I like about it is that the Lightning cable is reversible. The last one was not reversible and I think it leads to wear when always twisting the cable to get the correct orientation.
    2. To make the Apple Lightning connector better for me I would add fast charging and a more durable cord. I feel fast charging would be very useful when in a hurry and to have it on an Apple device especially when they have such a big battery. Having a more durable cord will just be more convenient because all Apple chargers wear very fast so you have to get a new one.
    3. A feature I like about the USB-C connector is it being a part of the USB family and how fast it is. Being part of the USB family USB-C will be integrated into almost all electronics in a few years. Getting it now will future-proof your devices. It also can handle very fast transfer speeds at 10Gbps.
    4. I would also add a fast charging feature to the USB-C connector. Having fast charging to USB-C would make it more popular and have more people using it. I would also add a charging port as a female USB-C and have a double sided cord with USB-C male connectors. That way it is completely reversible so if ever the cord and charging port is disconnect you would not have to worry about the orientation of the charging port.
    5. I would prefer to use the USB-C connector over the Apple Lightning cable because only Apple devices use this one charger. USB-C can be used in a wide range of devices if it is integrated into them. Not only USB-C is reversible it is more durable. The USB-C connector has a protective casing around its pins while the Lightning connector has open pins that can easily be damaged.

  16. 1. I do like how small Apple’s Lightning cord is and I am in favor of having the two sides compatible for charging. According to customers, it is also incredibly durable which is a plus for those who believe it.

    2. It would be nice of the cord was viable with video output. In my personal experience, I have not seen much to prove that the Lightning cord is durable. Every Lightning cord I’ve had has broken at the end, or in the case of a family member, randomly fell apart. I would like to see better durability with Apple’s Lightning cord.

    3. The USB-C port provides bi-directional power, which is highly appeasing to myself and many other consumers. Speed is another appealing feature to the USB-C port, as it supports data transfers of up to 5gbps per minute.

    4. I would like for there to be a way to readily prevent viruses from transferring into a computer through the USB-C port. Of course, anti-virus software could solve this issue but some viruses can be pretty sneaky in getting into the firmware of a computer.

    5. I’m more in favor of Apple’s Lightning cord despite its durability issues simply because it is more secure than the USB-C. If there was not the security-risk behind charging through a USB port, then I would immediately get behind the USB-C.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1. I really appreciate the fact that the cord is reversible, meaning that is doesn’t matter which side you plug into the phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 which uses a Micro USB 3.0 connector. It is nice until I have to plug in the charger in the dark because that is no walk in the park, trust me. Therefore, the Apple Lightning’s ease of connection is quite attractive to me.

    2. First off, it would be better if I owned an Apple phone, but I’m assuming that’s not what you mean :).
I would like it to add a longer cord to the charger. The standard Lightning cord is 1 meter long while the standard cords for other devices are 1.5 meters. This may not seem like much, but that extra half meter translates to about an extra 1.5 feet of cord allowing for extra mobility while charging. This is something that is important to me as I have been known to use my device while it is charging.

    3. I love the speed. The USB Type-C can support data transfers of up to 5gbps/min. This speed allows you to run an external hard drive (or other device) as though it were part of the computer itself. Moving data between the two will be faster and easier than ever. Large data transfers can be quite time consuming.

    4. I would want there to be more ports available on the devices that currently use USB Type-C. I can tell you right now as I write this blog that my computer is charging and I have two other USB ports being used for an external mouse and an external hard drive. The idea of needing to choose whether I want to charge my computer or have a mouse is not a decision that I believe makes the USB Type-C worthwhile.

    5. Right now, I would rather use the Lightning cable. I believe it is more developed and could be more universally applicable if Apple would let it become so. It has an adaptive interface that allows it to change the use of the pins to best suit the device connected. I would also like to see Lightning move to a USB 3.0 connection. Overall, I just believe it to be more secure and have more opportunities for advancement, despite its durability issues.

  18. 1) What features do you like on the Apple Lightning cord? (Explain in detail)
I love the cords reversibility and how easy it is to plug in. It’s design is very simple and nice. It has a different approach to plugs.

    2) What would you add to the Apple Lightning cord to make it better for you?(Why)(Explain in detail)
It needs to be upgraded to USB 3.1 and that it can be more versatile for more than phones and Ipads.

    3) What features do you like about the USB Type-C?(Why)(Explain in detail)
There are many things that are great about the USB type-C and one thing is its versatility. It can charge laptops, move data around at 10Gbps, and act as a display port. I do not know anything more versatile but then it is USB.

    4) What would you add to the USB Type-C cord to make it better for you?(Why) ( Explain in detail)
Nothing other than right now it is not used enough.

    5) Which charger (regardless of device) would you prefer to use? (Why)( Explain in detail with supporting evidence)
I would prefer to use the USB type C because of its speed and its durability. Due to it being enclosed you will not have the problem of dust. Having the ability of being a displayport is just an extra bonus.

  19. 1. Kind of like how the Apple Lightning charger is that you can put it in anyway you want without having to know which direction to place it in(like trying to figure out which side to have it face without trying to jam it in).

    2. I would like to try and add a better cable to the Apple Lighting to make it charge the phone better and smoother.

    3. I like how the USB-C can make Macbook and Google Chromebook devices a lot more easier to charge and can transfer data a lot more quicker.

    4. I would like to add a virus stopper so that in case if you have a virus on your device it would not carry over to any other device that you plug it into.

    5. I would like to use the USB-C charger cable because I am very used to having a USB cord for my phone and any other non-related to any apple products. If I was use to the Apple chargers then I would not make a difference because the Apple Lightning was released to the Iphone 5 and was carried on from there like the 6, 7, and 8(that would be coming soon).

  20. 1) The qualities that I like about the Apple Lightning cord are that the cord is reversible which is a pretty good quality to have to plug into your phone. The Apple lightning cord also knows what device that it is plugging into and connected to. The Apple Lightning is just a really good quality device to use.

    2) If I had to add anything to the Apple Lightning App I would most likely add something just like adding more length to the cord, because sometimes I have many troubles with the cord to short and It can be very annoying. I think everyone has had that time were there cord was to short and wanted to sit at this one spot.

    3) The things I like about the USB-C are that I can use my USB-C with my computer or Mac-book. I can use my phone to download or do something from school and put it on my Mac-Book. I like that about the USB-C.

    4) I think I would add stuff to make it more derivable because it does look a little small and over a while I would most likely wear away and I don't want that to happen because it could waste money. I also would want the USB-C be able to connect to another spot on my computer because what if I don't have any room to fit my USB-C because other items are filling it.

5)I think I would rather prefer the Lightning because of how it just sounds way better than the USB. I mean the USB has the quality to fit in your Mac-Book because just because I don't have a Mac-Book I would just chose the Lightning. The Lightning would fit me the best.

  22. 1. The Apple Lightning Connector has a reversible plug so that it can be connected either way to charge.
    2. But the Apple Lightning Connector also is a USB 2.0 type charger instead of the standard USB 3.0 charger, so that means that it has an about 145 LESS maximum MBytes/s making data transfers between cords slower than a USB 3.0 would. Also a USB 2.0 has 2.5 W power rate while a 3.0 has a 4.5 W power rate, making the charging rate slower.
    3. The USB Type-C is a USB 3.1 plug, so that means it is reversible, and has about double the data transfer power of the USB 3.0 type (1250 MBytes/s). Don't forget that the USB Type-C chargers also charge a maximum of 100 W compared to the USB 3.0 measly 4.5 W.
    4. Right now, the USB Type-C is a pretty much perfect charger, but over time technology will evolve and USB Type-C will be underpowered to what we have then.
    5. I would definitely use the USB Type-C charger just because of the sheer power it has against the Apple Lightning Charger.

  23. 1. One thing I like about the Lightning cable is that the tip is very small and the cable itself can be small, which is great to carry around. Also, despite being small, the cable is still very durable and doesn’t tangle up or get messed up easily.

    2. Ideally, the Lightning cable would have much faster data transfer speeds that could match up with other cables (like USB3.0). The transfer speed is definitely my biggest gripe with the Lightning cable. Also, the Lightning cable isn’t that useful with other devices as it is an Apple-only cable, so it would be nice to make a cable that is used with more than just Apple devices.

    3. I like the overall shape and size of the USB C, it is very compact and easy to get into the USB slot, and reversible unlike USB A cables. Also, it is compatible with any device that the manufacturer decides to put a port for it on, rather than only Apple devices like the Lightning cable. Also, the data transfer speeds it supports are insanely fast compared to most other cables.

    4. I would add USB C ports to as many devices as possible as it would make it much easier to have a single cable rather than have to carry multiple cables places. This is most likely going to be happening soon, with most manufacturers moving to USB C. The main thing that needs to be changed with the USB C cables themselves is the fact that they have security flaws, that may allow malware to infect a computer without the user of the computer knowing.

    5. I would prefer to use USB C as it is a general cable that every manufacturer can use rather than the Lightning cable which only Apple can use. It is just much simpler to only have to use one cable for most devices than to have multiple cables for multiple devices. Also, the data transfer is simply faster on USB C, and the specs for it are just superior in almost all ways to the Lightning cable.

  24. 1. The only thing I liked about the Apple Lightning connector was that it is reversible because having a reversible jack, in my opinion, is very efficient and it eliminates the hassle of putting it the wrong way getting risk to slowly damage the device.
P.S.: That name is so cringy. "Lighting Connector" Pfffftttt!!

    2. I'm satisfied with all the aspects of the Apple Lightning connector except for one thing, It's proprietary. I guess that's how Apple does it's way around here --monopolizing such a unique piece of tech only to their customers. Furthermore, its name wouldn't have the "Apple" on it if the company doesn't own its copyrights.

    3. The characteristics that I like about USB Type C is that it's universal, except for certain products like Apple, unfortunately. I also have taken a liking to the fact that it has data transfer speed up to 5 gigabytes per minute; this will save a lot of people time in several industries involving technology in our society.

    4. To make USB C better as it is, I would combine all efficient aspects of it predecessors to it to create a better version people would use in their daily lives.

    5. As the world currently stands, there are more people that uses the USB Type C in the market and not all people(globally) can afford to have an Apple product anyway just to use the so efficient reversible "Apple" Lightning Connector so I would have to give my vote to USB Type C. It's not like USB Type D wouldn't have the same features as Apple's anyhow.

  25. 1. I think that one of the best features is the two side compatibility. The fact that you can use either side of the charging plug is really useful, when the long charger was around it was pretty easy to break. The fact that it is really slim is a great feature because you have more space on and around the phone. The port is also very easy to clean out. Sometimes dirt gets stuck in the port and stops the charger from working but it is easy to clean out. The inside is very slim and very easy to access, all you need to do to clean it out is to take a toothpick and skim it around.

    2. If I could improve anything then I would really want to cover up the charging hole. I have had a lot of problems with it having little pieces of dirt or just random things in it. If I was able to cover it up then I would make sure that it is sealed tight and no liquids could get in. It would create less problems with the port and it would keep your phone sort of safe. I would fix the lightning cord by making it so that it was more flexible. It would be able to bend any way and not affect the wires. One of the worst things about the cord is that it breaks easily so it would be better the more flexible it is.

    3. I really like the fact that it is practically universal. Anything you see that is not made by apple uses this cord. I have a lot of products that use this cord. If i ever need to charge like a tablet I would use this cord and then if I needed to charge my other electronics than I would most likely be using this cord. I think that this cord is also very durable. You can bend it all you want and it will not break. I really think that this cord is the better of the two cords thanks too it’s capabilities and its durability.

    4. I don’t think that there is much you can add to this charger. I think that it would look a lot better with a new design. It has had the same look for about five years. They have changed the inside but still not the outside. I think that something they could add to it is giving it better security. It has very low security. In all I really think that there is not that much to improve to the charger. You basically have everything that you would need all in one place. Overall it is a really great charger.

    5. I think that the usb c port is the better port. It has the most important features you could ever need. It is really durable and efficient, there really is not much more that you could need with it. If I could I would use this type of cord on every device. It is like a universal cord that can be connected to everything but apple. It does have some problems like security, but that could always be fixed. I really enjoy this cord a lot more over apples especially because it is more durable and more capable of doing things.

  26. 1. I think I enjoy the size of the device. It really is easily distinguishable from other chargers so there will be no confusion or anything. It is extremely small and it does not have any kind of weird way to put it in the charging port. Although it can be slow, there is just a nice convenience that helps it stay the way it is and makes it popular. It is much more durable and Apple can always be trusted to make a reliable product.
    2. The problem is that people shouldn’t have to distinguish chargers from other chargers. The best thing that can help this device is the simple idea of compatibility. Because this is made exclusively by Apple, these nice features are only helpful if a customer actually owns exclusively Apple products. By getting this charger, a person is forced to only use Apple products or else they have to buy a new charger. Customers have no other option. There is no other possible way they can charge their phone. The charger is entirely useless with any other product and it really should not be like that.
    3. The double data transfer is probably the best part about this charging port. The USB-C is mean to charge computers extremely fast and they can be used on multiple devices unlike the Lightning. A device that can get things charged much faster is always a good idea. A much favorable charge than what can sometimes be the case. It is extremely efficient at what it is meant to do. It also has the same reversibility as most other modern charging cords so that is always a bonus for the product.
    4. Based on this information, better security is definitely required. Even though it is easier to share the cord with others, it is definitely a problem when viruses could easily be transferred. Comfortability should not always be a focus when there is a security problem such as this.
    5. Honestly the USB-C appeals to me much more than the other cord ever could. The low speed and low versatility of the Lightning just severely brought it down to the point where it just doesn’t feel right to use it when there are much better products. The Lightning is focused on comfortability, but comfortability should really take a sideline when it comes to actual performance and compatibility with other devices. USB-C is still limited, but it still has multiple uses outside of one line of products. The USB-C just seems better in almost every way.

  27. 1. Probably one of the nicest features of the Lightning cord is the fact that it's reversible. There's no fumbling in the dark to find which side is up; you just plug it in. The data transfer isn't too bad, either.

    2. I'd like it to be USB 3.0 compatible. While the speeds are fast, it could be a lot faster if the standards were updated. There's also the fact that Apple has a monopoly on creating these connectors.

    3. The USB-C is standardized across many phones of all different brands. It also takes advantage of the full speed of USB 3.1, 10 Gbps. That's a great transfer speed for a cable.

    4. Definitely the double-sided feature of the Lightning connector. I hate trying to figure out which way is the right way up. The ease of a reversible connector is just too good.

    5. Probably the Lightning connector. There's just not enough reason for me to want the improved data speeds over the ease of the Lightning cord. To be honest, though, it really just doesn't matter all that much. Either way, my phone will get charged.

  28. 1) My absolute favorite part of the lightning cord is that fact that it doesn't matter which direction you put it in, which is always something I struggle with, especially when I am plugging in my phone at night.
    2) The speed can definitely be improved. It's transfer speed is only on par with USB 2.0, nowhere near the modern USB 3.0 standard.
    3) My favorite feature of USB type C is the same as it is for the lightning connector in that it can go in both ways.
    4) One disadvantage is that most devices only have one port meaning you can either use it for data transfer or power, and not both.
    5) I would use USB C because of the faster transfer rate, if only there were more ports to use on most devices.

  29. 1. There are many features that I like on Apple's Lighting cord. One of those features is that the charger is reversible. You don't have to worry about plugging in the charger the wrong way since it can plug in either way. It doesn't really have a use but for convince it really helps out like when its dark and you can just plug it in on anyway. Also that the charger is smaller and harder to break or bend like Apple's old 30 pin charger.

    2. If I could add features too the Lighting cord one of the features would be to make the cord more durable. After using the charger for a long time, the plastic on the charger starts to wrinkle up at the end and the wires inside start to break and the charger doesn't work anymore. Also another feature I think would be great to add would be to make the charger longer so people won't be so stuck to a wall.

    3. The features that I like about the USB Type C is that it is fast. The cord can transfer data as fast as 5 gigabytes every minute. Also this cord charges devices faster than other USB cords.

    4. Features that I would add to the USB Type C is something to protect viruses from getting through it so easily. I would also want the cord to be durable so it last very long.

    5. I would prefer to use the Lighting cord opposed to the USB Type C cord because I use an IPhone which uses a Lighting cord for charging. I just like how the cord is reversible which is really helpful when its dark and you don't really have to worry about which side is which. Also there isn't really any virus threats for this cord opposed to the USB Type C cord.

  30. 1) I like how it is slightly smaller and came out first. It really is more convenient to have a smaller and more adjustable cord/plug when charging your phone for portability and durability.

    2) I would get rid of it. There is no point to the lightning charger and only serves to have a separate charger type for Phones and a refusal to standardize chargers from Apple. In pretty much very way except for size, the lightning charger lags behind.

    3) I like that like the lightning charger it is reversible. It is also fast at charging and data transfer speeds which is always great.

    4) Any changes besides speed of charging would make this a completely new charger. I would like the speed for charging the phone to always faster, there is no harm in that. Other than that I would make it smaller, though at that point it wouldn't be USB-C anymore.

    5) I prefer USB-C because the USB line of plugs is standard everywhere and is better than the lightning charge in almost every way. Again, Apple has committed planned obsolescence with their products, refuses to standardize with the industry for more profits, and as far as I remember they didn't even invent the lightning charger, it is just an old patent from the 60s or something. Overall the USB-C is the way to go every time.

  31. 1.) One thing I think is nice is the fact that it can be plugged in either way and still works, which makes it nice if one wants to set something to charge and not have to pay complete attention to the cord.
2.) A speed boost would probably really be the only thing I can think of, just so that it gets on par with other cords of the time, since it lags behind a good deal compared to others.
3.) Something I think is pretty handy of this cord is the fact that you can charge two different devices at once with the same socket, which easily allows a person’s devices to maintain full battery at all times without much extra effort. There is also the fact that they maintain very good transfer speeds for quick and clean transfers.
4.) I’d say better protection against the fact that viruses can be brought into a computer much easier, especially when sharing a single cord, because then that single cord can screw over countless other computers.
5.) I’d probably go with the USB-C, as it seems like it’s a little more versatile than the Lightning, and also offers much greater speed for transferring data, which can really come in handy should I need to transfer a massive number of files at once.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 1) I like how the apple lightning cord has multiple uses, can be plugged in using multiple rotations.

    2) I think the build quality should be improved because my apple chargers rip so quickly internally so I have to make sure it's held at the right angle for my phone to be charged

    3) Like the thunderbolt charger you can plug it in at multiple orientations. It can transfer 100 watts of energy which is a very good amount of energy.

    4) I would try and increase the data transfer speed on the cord allowing files to be transferred over it more quickly.

    5) I would use the USB C connectors as they are more durable but have almost the same specifications as apple’s lightning.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1) I like the size of it, it allows for convenience and the ability to store it in tightly packed places. The fact that it is also adjustable is truly nice too.

2)The only real improvement I could see from it is just making the output charge rate faster.

    3) My favorite part is that you can charge two items at once allowing for double the efficiency and double the charge.

    4) The only thing I could see being added to this, is maybe cord strength and or charge speed.

    5) My vote is with the USB-C due to its seemingly better versatility and compatibility. The multiple charging capabilities are truly glorious.

  35. 1. The apple lightning cord is easy to use and it is very portable which is a thing that I like because I can charge my phone when I'm not at home.

    2. One thing that could make the apple charger better would be to make it cordless. This would make that apple charger amazing and a lot more people would buy iPhones

    3. I like that the USB type c cord can be used for many things other than phones. Unlike the iPhone charger this can be used for many devices.

    4. Making this cordless would make it a lot better because you would be able to charge things without having to use a wall outlet.

    5. I personally like the apple charger better because it is the one that is needed for my phone. And the apple charger is better to use with all apple devices.

  36. 1. The apple lightning charger is a new and improved charge from the last charge it was, the last once was bigger and wider which made it had sometime but now the new small lightning charger is better for the layout on the bottom of the phone making more speaker space.
2.Maybe adding another lightning port for you head phone if you have an iphone 7 (me and you ms mills), having another lighting port means which can charge our phone and listen to music at the same time which means we don't have to choose to charge our phones or listen to music and have your phone die.
    3. The usb type c is like a multi charger and can charge many devices which also means it useful in many cases unlike apple that only have the one type of charger for there product.
4.I wouldn't change anything on it at all, it's a great charger
5.I like the apple charger because I don't use usb type c at all only the apple charger.

  37. 1.The features that I like about the apple lightning charger for the I phone is that it is small and fast and really portable for example the old iphone charger was big and when you would put it in your pocket it would stab your leg but the new one doesn't.
2.What I would like to add to the apple lightning cable is a turbo charge feature that will charge your phone faster for a more expensive price.
3.The features that I like about the USB type c is that there cheep they have a turbo charge feature that you could get by getting the right wall brick (is what I like to call it).I also like that I is small and will fit in your pocket.
    4. What I would like to add the USB type C is its durability these charger cords break so ease-ally after like a month of using it.
5.The charger that I would want to use would honstally be the apple lightning charger because it is just way more dutiable then other chargers and even though I use USB type C i don't like it that much

  38. 1.) I like the fact that the cord is smaller and much easier to transport. The reversible connector is also a handy feature so you don't have to mess around with it to plug it in the right way.

2.) The only thing I can think of to improve it is to improve the charging speed, even though I don't use Apple products.

3.) Of course I love the much faster file transfer rate of the USB-C, but the compatibility it has with other cords and devices and docks is also really cool.

4.) If the durability of the cords would be a great improvement. The cords wear out way too easily and bend and kink all the time. If they can be made so they don't break but also don't kink that'd be great.

  39. 1 What I like about Apple’s lightning cord is that it does not matter how you plug it into a device.2 What I would add to Apple’s lightning cord is to make more compatible for other devices than just Apples. Though thise would cooperation with other companies, it would be best for the consumers interest.
3 My favorite feature about the USB Type-C is that it supports USB 3.1 which means that it's really fast up to 5gbps.
4 If I was able to add anything to USB Type-C is to make it more durable and less likely to break ports.
5 I prefer to use USB Type-C. Mostly because my device is compatible for the Lightning cord. It’s also more compatible with more devices.

  40. 1) What I like about the apple lightning is that it's harder to remove so it can't unplug by itself. It is also faster than an android's because the ones android has unplugs easier

    2) Since the new iPhone came out you can't use your headphones while charging your phone, so what I would add is another plug to charge your phone while using the headphones.

    3) What I like about the USB Type-C is that it has many uses in many different devices, it is also pretty good at charging if you let the device to charge

    4) I would add something so it doesn't unplug easily and to make it charge faster, if both can be added android phones will be so much better.

    5) I would prefer to use the iPhone's charger because it is faster than androids and it stays plugged in without unplugging easily, it'll make it easier to charge my phone.

  41. 1) What features do you like on the Apple Lightning cord? (Explain in detail)
Well i like how it can charge your phone faster and how it’s easy to connect its better in a lot of ways that i can explain it's a great thing to use wish android had it but oh well
    2) What would you add to the Apple Lightning cord to make it better for you?
Well i would do nothing to it because it's great the way it is
    3) What features do you like about the USB Type-C?
It charges android phones faster and works ten times better that a regular charger
    4) What would you add to the USB Type-C cord to make it better for you?
Nothing because its fine the way it is.
    5) Which charger (regardless of device) would you prefer to use? Usb type c

  42. 1) What features do you like on the Apple Lightning cord? (Explain in detail)
I like how it is a reversible design which means you don't have to figure out which side is the top to plug it in. Another feature I like is that it required an authentication chip and at the time that meant that only Apple could make them so there was less risk of third party charger failures.
    2) What would you add to the Apple Lightning cord to make it better for you?
I would make it a variety of lengths and would replace the USB-2 with USB-3.
    3) What features do you like about the USB Type-C?
I like that they are small and easy to plug in, plus they’re reversible and can be used either way up so you don’t have to inspect them before attaching to make sure they’re not facing the wrong way. Also the dual functionality of charging with high speed data transfer.
    4) What would you add to the USB Type-C cord to make it better for you?
Again, just a variety of lengths.
    5) Which charger (regardless of device) would you prefer to use?
    USB Type-C

  44. 1. What I like about the apple lighting charger is that its small and easy to connect, it doesn't have to go a specific way, you can just plug it in and go. Plus you can just plug into you laptop onto itunes and transfer data.
    2. I guess I would just make the charger more durable and longer because most lengths are to small, but then again I don't really use my phone while its connected.
    3. I like how the USB type c can be really reliable and used for many things, it is small too and you don't have to inspect for the right way to plug it in, you can use the cable to transfer data and high speed charging.
    4. I guess the length because they are not too long for my daily needs and more durable, reliable.
    5. I dont know both of them are pretty good but I guess USB type-C since it is much more reliable.
    btw its me Eddy H.

  45. 1. There isn't much that I like about this cable but I do like the simple look it gives out to the eye. I also like the fact that it doesn't need a specific side to plug in, unlike the android phone charges were you have to face the correct way to plug in. Another great thing about this cord is that its supper fast with other apple products and can be used to transfer data from a phone to a computer pretty easily.
    2. I would add a better cord material mainly because the cord wire itself is pretty crappy and dies out really fast. If Apple did that people wouldn't buy off brand cables to replace the normal Apple one. I would also increase the cord length by a few inches only to get the freedom of using your phone on the bed. Mainly just change its cable material and lengths everything else is pretty fine.
    3. The thing I love about C is that it can connect to anything that supports it and doesn't need any extra special things to help it connect, in my eyes its more of a "Plug and play" kind of thing where you just plug and chill while other cords may need you to select what it would be doing. USB Type C is also pretty fast itself and can transfer data like normal.
    4. Again, like most other cables I would adjust the cord material to something more durable like a braided cable or something along those lines. I would also again, change its length to give the user freedom. For C I would maybe do something like what Apple used to do and make it magnetic so it can snap in place right away and make sure its secure on your phone or computer.
    5. I would prefer to use USB Type C mainly because its more open to other phones and devices unlike Apple how its stuck on its own product. Type C would also come with a better cord right off the bat and can last longer than the standard Apple cords. Type C is a lord.

  48. I personally have an apple lightning cord and i really love how much faster it charges. I have an iphone that dies before half the day is over so it's nice to be able to get a full charge within 45 minutes. Another thing i like about it is how durable it is, my regular charger would always break at the charging end and with the lightning cord it never breaks the skin of the cord.

If i were to invent a new lightning charger i would try to make it plug in free like some of the samsung chargers nowadays. In addition i would make it charge at least a third faster because who doesn't want that. I would also make it to where it doesn't cost as much to make so we could generate larger amounts of profit.

A major advantage of the USB-C ports is that they support data transfers of up to 5gbps per minute so users can access data stored on cameras, external hard drives and other information-holding devices at top speed. I've had problems with my iphone as it would transfer data really slow at times to the computer. the new ports ability provide to provide bi-directional power, (meaning that a laptop can be charged and charge other devices all through one socket.) is great so you don't have to buy two cords!

For the USB-Cord i'd definitely make it available as an Iphone cord as well, since so many have an iphone and don't want to spend a small fortune for the lightning cords, the USB-C would be a perfect alternative.

I would prefer the lightning cord over the USB-C because of how fast it charges and how it doesnt have a problem with viruses like the USB-C.
