A Digital Democracy
In the past election, it was no secret that technology played a large role for all candidates. From emails to Twitter wars, politicians are becoming more involved online. Technology, social media, and digital news have already started to change the political landscape.
1. What new tool or website from the “Political Accessibility” link did you find most interesting? Why?
2. Compare and contrast the use of technology in past and modern elections.
3. What technology do you believe will be the most influential in future elections? (Social media, news, digital polls, and analytics, etc.)
1) I find the isidewith.com tool to be the most interesting because it provides an in depth analysis about a person's opinion and how it aligns with a political candidate.
ReplyDelete2) In the past, every single ballot was counted and cast in person, but now with mail in ballots and automatic voting machines, this can be done from the home or without the use of any paper or humans at all.
3) Social media has already shown itself to be very influential, but so has the "traditional" media (political and news networks). Neither is the most important, but both play a very important role, as one could see clearly from the 2016 elections.
ReplyDelete1. What new tool or website from the “Political Accessibility” link did you find most interesting? Why? I find most interesting Opensecrets.org because is an organization that tracks money in U.S. politics and assessing its effect on elections and public policy. The organization aims to offer understandable and accessible information to the average citizen, improve political involvement and bring about a more transparent and responsive U.S. government and show me an infographic.
2. Compare and contrast the use of technology in past and modern elections.
With the paper valet people would read out loud and count to see how many these people going for this guy or someone else but with technology, it can count faster than most people and they can do it at home.
3. What technology do you believe will be the most influential in future elections? (Social media, news, digital polls, and analytics, etc.) Social media makes it self-bigger with elections because it people would who are they voting for and some people angry or mad, but people will unfriend for picking this person and show to each other.
1. What I find most interesting is the use of quizzes to find what presidential candidate would appeal to specific people and giving some people a basic idea on who they should vote for. I’ve seen similar quizzes that are mostly useless. Seeing a quiz used for a better and for specific purpose is a little more appealing. It is just a way to get people more interested by presenting a good reason they would want to vote for what they believe in.
ReplyDelete2. The 21st century is really where technology began to come into play for elections. In past years it was always a case of doing everything manually and it can be assumed that counting the vote was a very monotonous task for the people involved. Campaigns had to be advertised without technology and mostly placed into newspapers basically making exposure very limited especially with people who just don’t care. Today has campaigns that can easily be advertised through social media and people can really be involved without major intent. Votes can be counted easier and it is a much better system.
3. With a grow in popularity in recent years social media is definitely a major candidate in helping candidates with campaigns. Looking at recent elections, candidates have been able to practically have direct and easy contact to the voters. Publicity is probably the most important ways for a candidate to win the election. Social media is a perfect way to get massive publicity and appreciation from voters without too much effort. Social media seems like the best possible way that the presidential elections will change in the future.
ReplyDelete1.)Some apps have been created that can choose a candidate if the voter is stuck on which one to choose just like smartvote. This is a great program for voters who weren’t interested at voting in the beginning but now realized that some candidate is right for them and have the same goals.
2.) Technology back them could mislead lead young voters into believing that their chosen candidate has done corrupted things in the past and plan for a worse future or won’t keep their promises. Past elections tended to be more fair and have less conflict and rumors spread being compared to this year presidential run.
3.) Social media is used highly to spread rumors and hurt the race of the presidential run. Using digital polls could be hacked and change the way how each candidate could win.
1. The website I found most interesting was factcheck.org. It allowed you to check on all the lies your candidate was telling throughout the election.
ReplyDelete2. Technology was not used in previous elections like it was in the 2016 election. Candidates can no longer get away with spreading lies this day in age because it's too easy to fact check them.
3. Social media (if it wasn't already extremely influential this election) will be the most influential in future elections by far due to the spread of information and the ideals of people being shared and spread throughout the internet.
1.) POPVOX because it will and has helped us know what is going on at a very high level and you get heard when you ask or say something which is very good in my opinion.
ReplyDelete2) There use to be very little technology in elections which sometimes only be cameras and microphones. Now you can do a lot more there is t.v's, computers, phones, camera's, and much more. It makes it so that you can know whats going on whether your at the election or not which is very good so that you don't have to be at the exact location where the election is going on.
3.) I think the most useful things will be Social media, Digital Polls, and Analytics because social media will show the candidates what they are doing wrong and how they should fix it, Digital Polls because then you can send your votes and comments from just about any where and analytics because it will show the polls online and be sending constant updates showing how people like which candidates.
1) I found the tool of POPVOX as one of the coolest tools on the website. It’s a website that most Americans probably won’t use but it’s interesting to float the idea of the American people actually influencing politicians. In a world where many political issues are handled through deals regarding getting support for your bill by supporting another or through the swaying words of lobbyists or political party, it’s a positive step forward that we have a way for Americans to have their voice heard. While right now, these types of sites might not actually cause political change, it is definitely a step in the right direction.
ReplyDelete2) Frankly, depending on how far you look back at elections, there has been a huge sway in ways to communicate political views as well as information about the election. The addition of social media like Facebook and Twitter have allowed politicians to communicate directly with their followers and show all the great things they do. Americans also have the ability to directly contact these politicians and have a pretty good shot of them or an assistant of theirs to respond. However, the creation of social media has allowed for various mudslinging tweets and posts from candidates and Americans alike. Now that people can speak their mind to the world, everyone gets to hear their political views and stances on different topics. Another huge part of the social media wave have been the live tweeting during the debates and other important capstones of the campaigns. People can now submit questions via Twitter to huge debates they can’t physically be there for as well as just post their opinions. We also are lucky enough to have immediate access to election results in real time. These tracking features have allowed Americans to actively track the election throughout their day without missing anything. Despite all the changes that technology has made on elections and campaigning, the fundamental system stays the same. People still manually count votes and report their results. But even that system is on the brink of change. Overall, technology has caused a complete overhaul on elections.
3) Social media is going to continue to be the most influential technology in any election because of three words: ease of access. People now have an open access point to direct questions, comments and concerns towards a politician due to Twitter, Facebook and many other forms of social media. This direct point also gives a place for the politician to post his thoughts or his good works or really anything that’s on their mind. Even though people may be suggesting the possibility of Facebook ending or Twitter being on its last legs, more social media will continue to be developed and stay king of the most influential technology in politics.
1.POPVOX seems to be the most useful due to immediate communication with politicians.
ReplyDelete2.This election was a lot more viral on the internet due to the fact that both had media teams for the internet alone but one staffed with far more than the other.
3.I believe social media will be the most influental.
One of the many things I find appealing are the quizzes that are available. Basically the quizzes help find people the correct presidential candidate, which is a really good feature because I feel like there are a lot of younger people who have no idea what political party that they like more (including me). So yeah the quizzes that help you decide what candidate you will probably like are a pretty big feature of that website, also the quiz was made for a specific purpose which will probably draw even more people in so then even more young undecided people or even old undecided people will have an even better understanding of what political party they are apart of.
ReplyDeleteThe technology in the past elections like the 80’s 90’s etc was a lot worse so like they had to count the votes by hand, I’m not sure if they still do that but I’m pretty sure that they do not do that anymore because the technology has gotten like way better. In addition another major difference from the past elections from the present is how diverse the US is now, because like 100 years a vote that was not from a white man was like ⅔ or ⅓ or a white guys vote, furthermore women could not even vote 100 years ago so that is another major difference from present elections.
Social media is like probably the biggest part of the elections because like all the memes and stuff that were made of this election so that probably influenced a lot of people I do not really know though because I did not vote and none of my friends could vote because they are not 18. Also the presidential candidates can have direct contact with the public people so that is probably another crucial point in like every election from 2008 because 2008 is really when social media was getting much bigger than it was, and know it is even bigger than it was and social media will probably only continue to get bigger unless something crazy happens but I’m pretty sure that will not happen.
1) The most interesting one out of them all is Factcheck.org. It tells about all of the interesting lies that each politician told during the electoral process.
ReplyDelete2)Well, the most notable change from the past compared to the future is the move over from physical ballots to the digital ballots and ways to vote. Including all of the social media coverage here and there.
3)Social media is the going to have the most influence upon electoral processes because of how connected people are and also how people these days can't seem to think for themselves and therefore take an opinion of another friend to make a decision based off of that.
1. The tool I found most interested out of them all is factcheck.org. It holds politicians accountable for all statements they make and allows voters to view the validity of their statements.
ReplyDelete2. Before technology paper ballots were counted and casted individually. Now with the mail, and voting machines, voters can send in their ballots through the mail, and also go vote on machines quickly at polling stations.
3. I believe Social Media will be the most influential in politics as we have already seen Twitter to be massively influential. It gives people platforms to influence each others and discuss politics. Trump's twitter for example is famous having 20 million followers. He reaches a lot on his twitter.

ReplyDelete1. I find Votesmart to be the most useful and interesting tool presented from the article. With many Americans disengaged with politics, they become uneducated voters and thus may vote for something which would be detrimental to their community or the like. Votesmart asks the user questions regarding their political stances, which can assist him or her in deciding whether he or she is left-leaning, right-leaning, moderate, or independent.
ReplyDelete2. It was not uncommon for politicians to do radio talks before TV was available. Another way of sending out political articles was through faxing. The first televised presidential debate was between Senator John F. Kennedy and vice president Richard M. Nixon. Today, politicians take to social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter to spread their messages.
3. Distrust around the media is growing, so I do not believe statistics will be taken too seriously in the future unless something changes in that regard. Obama was not very much directly communicative with the rest of the people, except for his occasional appearance on a talk-show. Today, Donald Trump relays his opinions and messages through Twitter.
1) I prefer isidewith.com because it asks you a bunch of questions and helps choose candidates that are good for you.
ReplyDeleteI particularly like this because I am very very indecisive and can not choose one thing but this can help with that.
2) Technology was not used in past elections like it is today. Today almost all of voting is done electronically, primarily to combat rigging and to ease the voting process.
3)Social media because it can be used to vote almost instantaneously and you can greatly pull from respected peers and family who can give you their opinions on their political views.
1. Most interesting the emails because we get an understanding on they they say or think outside of the race which is cool and you understand the person better
ReplyDelete2. back in the day all we said was "i want billy to be president" and then billy is president and everyone like whoa but now a days we use electricity
3. It will stay the same for a few more years or we all die that it Ms. Mills we go boom since i have 82 i too lazy to add information so now we have 100 words :) wait now a 100
1. The tool that is most interesting is the POPVOX because it is easy and efficient way of getting rapid feedback from congress, etc..
ReplyDelete2. The use of technology in past elections for example elections from 10 years ago have evolved enormously.
nowadays it is so much faster. Past elections they have hand counted the votes, now citizens can mail in or go to vote machines to make it faster.
3. I believe social media or internet would have a big impact because of people's opinions and very manipulative people.
POPVOX because it will and has helped us know what is going on at a very high level and you have a opinion that can be heard at a larger scale.
ReplyDelete. This election was a lot more viral on the internet due to the fact that both had media teams for the internet alone but one staffed with far more than the other. It is in a lot more use now. In the past it was harder to get the word out about candidates or receive large amounts details.
Social media has already shown itself to be very influential, but so has the "traditional" media like news networks or newspapers. Neither is the most important, but both play a very important role, as one could see clearly from the 2016 elections.
1. I found the most useful platform to be POPVOX, as it gives citizens the change to voice their opinions about their feelings of a bill or issue that is presented before Congress. This platform lets offers legislatures determine which way they should vote.
ReplyDelete2. Now, in modem elections, votes can be calculated electronically, with little to no error, and there is no chance of human manipulation, like there was several decades ago. The running candidates can now be fact checked through websites, so the voters will know if they were lying or not. Technology help removes the chance of lies going unnoticed, as computers can be in control
3. The most influential technology during election has shown to be social media, as it continues to expand each year and take a huge toll on the media. When election time comes around people are constantly blasting their opinions all over their profiles, and this can make a huge impact if millions of others are doing it as well.
1. In my opinion the most helpful site was POPVOX. I personally like how the site collects the people's opinions about bills and issues and then allows congress to easily see what the people's opinion is. POPVOX appears to me as the most useful and influence site that can be used.
ReplyDelete2. Technology has really changed the way we vote. Ten or twenty years ago all votes were counted by hand while today it is mostly counted by computers. Another difference that has changed is fact checking. People can now check to see if the government electors are telling the truth about situation. One last difference is that technology has changed how the electors use ads. They now have access to sites like google and youtube to place their own ads that endorses them or hurts to other elector.
3. The biggest influential piece of technology that will be even bigger in the next election is social media. We can already see the influence it had in our current elections. Trump was able to gain voters with his twitter which he responded to his followers and gave his opinions. Due to his success this year I believe that social medias like twitter will play a much bigger role in the elections in 2020.
So I agree with you
Delete1. I think that "POPVOX" is the most helpful and sufficient. Because it shows us what others opinions say about politician etc. And it could possibly change your mind for who you want to vote for. It lets you feedback about the congressmen at a reasonable time. It also lets you know if someone has commented on your comment.
ReplyDelete2 I think that technology has change drastically the way that we vote, because years ago like maybe 20 we had to vote by hand. But now it is on computers and you do not have to leave your house to go to a voting ballot. I also think think that electors have better advertisement for their campaign with computers.
3. I think that Social Media is the best because you can express your opinions about politics and so can other people. Because our president of 2017 got a lot of voters from social media.
1. POPVOX is my favorite because it lets you view other peoples onions and congress view their onions as well
ReplyDelete2. Back in the day you had to go down to the box and put slips of your vote and now its all electronic.
3. Being able to vote from your couch is huge. Because now fat people or lazy people just press a couple buttons and now we got Trump.
1. The future is now, less people are associating with the real world so businesses are coming up with new ways to associate with these people like the internet, a example includes the voting processes and sites to help you choose like isidewith.com by providing allot of info and does it with least bias, just pure facts and info
ReplyDelete2. Up until recently tech was kept as far from voting due to the scare of it being hacked or changed or early info leak and much more, but recently the government has become more tech savvy and is able to protect their info
3. Social media most definitively, look at trump: every day he posts things on sites like twitter and it spreads like fire because of the people that are on there... At first he wasnt going to win but to my belief people voted for him with lots of help from social media. And advertisement is also helpful, they talk about something on the web and people spread that info. Yay for Trump
1.) Votesmart seems to be the most interesting and efficient app for finding out more about a candidate, this tech could seriously help those of whom are just entering the voting scene, and what person's beliefs they side with the most.
ReplyDelete2.) Technology during political convention seemed to be gunned towards finding out information about the election as fast as possible, evolving from letter, to telegraph, to radio, to television, and of course to today on the Internet.
3.) Social Media while a definite runner up, would hold great bias in political elections, but it would definitely be a good place for gathering. News is almost always biased, so that's immediately out the window. Analytics seem to be the best way to gather information about the current election, and I would certainly back it.
1. What new tool or website from the “Political Accessibility” link did you find most interesting? Why?
ReplyDeleteProject vote smart was the most interesting. It allows you to find the candidate that best represents you. This gives voters an incentive to do research if they disagree. It also acts as a guide or voters when they do not know what is going on in politics land. This is a very good resource.
2. Compare and contrast the use of technology in past and modern elections.
As tech advanced campaigns tried to use the most of it. First mail then signs then trains carrying the president across the U.S. then cars then radio then TV and live broadcast then planes then email then websites then live streaming then text messages. It is a huge list and almost all of them are used today.
3. What technology do you believe will be the most influential in future elections? (Social media, news, digital polls, and analytics, etc.)
Social media because way too many people get their news from social media. Unless america gets smarter than social media will be the most influential.
1.)While simplistic, I find that the Votesmart tool was rather interesting, with how it gives you questions and then, based on the answers you chose to the questions, it will give you a profile on the presidential candidate that matches your profile the most. Beauty is in the simplicity I guess.
ReplyDelete2.)Well, one of the original, and biggest, changes to presidential elections was the radio, because that allowed the candidates to easily get their points across the country. Now think of that same concept, times about 5. With the growing of technology, there are countless ways that campaigns can be run, from being able to post videos/pictures of it online, being able to build a following on things like Twitter to spread your publicity, and easily being able to plan events using whatever apps or tools to set times and dates.
3.)Social media will likely be the one to take the top of this one, as the number of uses in it is endless. One can post videos or pictures of their rallies, post statuses on things like twitter, facebook, all those things that document the candidate’s ideas and plans, and it is just a general way to speak to the public, much like the radio mentioned above. Overall, when it comes to ease of running campaigns, the winner
would likely be social media, because while simple, it’s uses are versatile enough to succeed.
1. Personally, I think Votesmart is a very interesting idea that would help voters in getting their foot in the door. It almost seems like one of those Buzzfeed quizzes you take, but i guess it somewhat relies on the person taking it to give out the information.
ReplyDelete2. In the current election, technology's main role was propaganda and slander of the opposition, in my opinion. With the full on arguments on twitter between the two candidate, to all of the garbage that was spoken to put down the other, it all came down to both candidates desire to be in office.
3. As with this election, i think that social media will continue to have a key role in all future elections.
1. Reading “Political Accessibility” was eye opening. I did not realize there were so many informative sites and tools available. I really liked the Votesmart tool. It has you answer a number of questions about how you feel about many key issues and matches you views with the candidates and gives you a percentage of how closely you match. This is a great tool when you are trying to vote for someone you think will make a difference.
ReplyDelete2. In the past it was very common for politicians to use TV and Radio as their main means for reaching the masses. Now many politicians are using twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets to reach out to people. As far as voting that has changed as well. In the past it was all paper voting now it is electronic.
3. I feel social media will be most influential on politics in the future. Donald Trump shows this on a daily basis when he uses twitter. Whether you support him or not people are very tuned into what he has to say daily.
1) I think isidewith.com was the most interesting website as like anyother websites it allows you to choose your stance and rate how important is it for you, but on top of it, it also allows you gives you more option for example: "whats your stance on abortion?" the answer may also include "Pro-life, but allow in cases of rape, incest, or danger to the mother or child" while other site only say pro-life or pro-choice.
ReplyDelete2) similarities would be the politicians still uses Television for preaching and for debates and differences would be nowadays politicians dont use radios anymore and the use of social media like twitter have been the popular choice for them to get more followers.
3) As I mentioned above social media is a popular choice because it has a large user base, and as someone already mentioned it that Donald Trump used twitter daily basis to gain more follower, at one point I thought he was going to tweet his inaugural speech.
1. A website I found on Political Accessibility that was the most interesting was Votesmart. It is a website that lets users choose an option of if they support important political ideas and issues or if they do not support it. Then it will ask them how important is means to them to help them find a candidate that is most suitable for them to vote for based on their choices. This website might be very useful for uniformed people who don't know much about the candidates and inform them what each candidate stands for.
ReplyDelete2. Technology in past elections and modern elections has definitely have an impact to voters. Today word spreads fast, so anything candidates do or say will go online and will be heard about. This might change the opinions of many supporters. In past early elections technology was not big enough to get the word to everyone so it had little impact and influence. The news and media today can make candidate look bad or good depending on who they want to win to get more supporters.
3. The technology in the future I believe that will be the most influential to future elections will be digital polls. I strongly believe many people don't vote because of the hassle it takes to cast their vote. If the polls were online then there will be many more votes and opinions because it is easier. The only downside will be hackers and fake ballots that will be online. It would probably be very chaotic to count all of the votes and verifying them all.
1. I think stuff like isidewith.com and Votesmart is extremely useful for people who feel like their voices aren't heard, namely people like me. I feel like my stance on social issues won't be heard purely based on the fact that I'm just one person, so knowing that I have someone in power who agrees with me would probably help me to get out there.
ReplyDelete2. In the past, before the days of the internet, the only real advances in "technology in the elections" had to do specifically with the polling place and how people were able to enter their decisions. Since the invention of the internet, the populace has been able to make more informed decisions more easily than before, with the aid of services like the ones discussed in the "Political Accessibility" section.
3. Personally, it seems like social media and analytics will be some of the more important types of information media. Analytics will help people decide which of the candidates will be best for the particular voter's beliefs, who will agree with them the most with policy, and social media, well... there's no better way to get in touch with constituents than to actually talk directly with them.
1. On the Political Accessibility site I found that the VoteSmart platform was very interesting. It is used for people who are not really into politics and can just use VoteSmart to see what candidate they like more than the other. After answering question from VoteSmart it will show you who you would most likely candidate you would like more.
ReplyDelete2. Well technology has defiantly changed the outcome of how many more people vote. In the "How technology is making American politics more accessible", article it says that 2012 survey showed that more than 4 million voted that didn't vote in 2008. That is a huge amount of people and its because of technology. Technology has more is more easier to vote and not have to go stand in lines for hours to vote.
3. I would think that Social Media would be the most uses for future elections. I am saying that because as a kid I use social media and many of my friends do and millions of people. As the years go on I think social media will be the main uses just because we are all so use to using social media on a daily bases.
1.What new tool or website from the “Political Accessibility” link did you find most interesting? Why? Votesmart because it helps people know which politician you shoul vote for depending on your polital views. Popvox because it helps people talk to representatives directly. Opensecrets.org is another thing that is cool because it keeps track of who politicians get their money from.
ReplyDelete2.Compare and contrast the use of technology in past and modern elections. Voting is alot more quicker than it used to be and its easier to analyze data than it was back then.
3.What technology do you believe will be the most influential in future elections? (Social media, news, digital polls, and analytics, etc.) I feel like social media will have an even bigger influence on our democracy because social media is almost accessible from anywhere.
1. I found Votesmart.org was the most interesting website out of all of them. Votesmart's idea of using a questionnaire to show who's mindset you had the most similar too made the experience feel more personal.
ReplyDelete2. In the past the only source of information about candidates was from flyers and newspapers that would always spread lies and twist words to put candidates in a bad positions. In today's media A candidate can do something like tweet and it is something that can't be changed and manipulated.
3. Social media has taken a part of and is going to still be a big part of a candidates run. They can get their words out without them being interfered with and they can reach to their target audience and can even change views of the people they interact with.
1. The tool that seems the most interesting to me is Votesmart. Votesmart is the most interesting to me because of how it list all the information and facts about who you may vote for, facts like their stance on many social issues, crime, economy, etc. I also like how it asks users questions and matches a candidate that best suits the answers that the user picked.
ReplyDelete2. Voting is way more quicker then is was in the past obviously because of the election being mainly electronically now. Also now you could know more about the person you are voting for and take a bigger look at both sides to see which one is the best. Also candidates use social media to get more attraction and voters on their side and also use it as a kind of propaganda.
3. I think that social media will make big effects on future elections like it did in Trump's election win. Social media in my opinion helped Trump win because of all the questionable things he has said it was spread across the internet until it was at the point where you saw his face at least once a day which spread which got him more and more attention until election day.
1. Maybe the best you can use in my opinion VoteSmart because is help new people get a simple of view of who or what they are voting for. I would say these days new people wouldn't really know who they are voting for because of the internet and who it corrupts others thinking that this side is worse than the other.
ReplyDelete2. With these days you can vote but you have to be careful because they track were you vote and who you are. They know everything about you because everything is more secure than before. Back in the day all you had to show is proof that you're a US Citizen and bam you can vote. This was not really safe because many people could go to many different polls and vote more than once giving the greater edge to the person they have voted for. So the system now is pretty good unless you vote in this state and go to another in a small time then maybe you can get away with it but you will suffer bad stuff when they find out that you did such a thing.
3. Honestly everything is one sided because the news can tell you the good of one person and opposite of the other. The social media is just full of butt hurt zombies saying that everything is a lie and how everything is a shame to the US. If I were to vote for something I would just do my own research instead of following what others say like a sheep. If you didn't vote and then fight others who is the best you really have no voice in the arguments because you didn't take part of it because you didn't vote.
Delete1. For one, Votesmart felt like a vary necessary and practice application that have the ability to help thousands of people to figure out which candidate would best fit their political opinion. A large cause for not vote is people not knowing who to vote for and this app solves it with no complication.
ReplyDelete2. The biggest change in the way voting has changed is the why technology is used to run the entire thing. In the past, everything was done manually, collecting balled, counting them up, and sending the information to the higher ups, but with technology, all that and more is done electronically, much less susceptible to human error.
3. I feel that social media will be the driving force in the political world. Politicians being able to send out messages and information without the need of T.V networks or even a place to hold a rally.
1. I found POPVOX to be the most interesting. I always wondered how legislators could get the opinions of the poeple they represent, and now I know! I wonder how they prevent bias in their responses...
ReplyDelete2. Social media is a huge change in elections. Barack Obama was the first president to really use social media to any great effect, and now Donald Trump has orchestrated a surprising win through the use of social media and the news, and will continue to use it to get himself into trouble. Twenty years ago, social media wasn't even on the radar of politicians, but now it's used by practically all of them.
3. I believe that future elections will be even more dependent on this type of media, because it connects politicians to a wide base of supporters across the world. An even more attractive side of social media is the fact that it's free- every politician, from the unfunded underdog to the favored candidates with hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign donations, can use it.
1. Opensecrets.org is the website I found most interesting from the link. It interests me because it makes information a lot more transparent and makes corruption and things like money influencing politics much more obvious. Many people don’t understand how businesses are involved with politics and how money is being used to influence decisions, so this website is very helpful.
ReplyDelete2. In past elections, there was much less information in general. People could only get their information from a few sources, like newspapers, TV, etc. Nowadays, people have the whole internet at their disposal, they can find any information they like and form their own opinions based off it. Also, on the government side, the government has more information. The government can study the people, find out what they want, and campaign towards what they think people will like.
3. I think social media will be the most influential technology in elections. One of Trump’s big things is Twitter, which is generally not a good thing for him to be using based on some of his tweets, but it did get his name out their much more, made more people think about him and his opinions, and it actually worked to get him elected.
1. Votesmart is the most interesting to me because it contains the information of the person we can elect such as criminal record or such. It's an easy tool to get to choose your preferred president
ReplyDelete2. In past elections people had to choose without really knowing background information about them. People only got information on what the president was going to do later in the future. People only got to see information from the TV and from newspaper.
3. I think social media will be the most used in elections. One thing is presidents these days such as trump and Obama use social media but the things they can post may be stupid or they can just take it so far that they will probably wont become president. Also no to hipster presidents (if possible)
1. votesmart is the only thing i know so that is what.
ReplyDelete2. the information on a president did not get around as much now because if you want to know something about someone it just look it up on your phone.
3. Phones because there might be a app for a person to vote on there phone by just a press of a button and it will save time and money.
1) I like the vote smart site. I think the layout of the website is very nice and easy to use. It also has a variety of different categories.
ReplyDelete2) The use of technology has helped voters become more informed on their candidates rather than hearing it from the TV or hearing about it on the radio and others, and allows the voters to make a more educated decisions
3) I think in the future and even now social media becomes a big aspect of the voters information and how the candidates are being treated through that media. Social media is probably the most important because we get it from our phones.
1.) The one that stood out to me was opensecrets.org. It shows the data of how money is used by different politicians. It makes the data available in a way that is easy for the common person to understand, and I think it could be really useful.
ReplyDelete2.) Technology was all the buzz in this election. Twitter was a very popular tool used by the candidates, especially the now President Donald J Trump. All sides were on this platform to get their word out and gain support. Also tons of online fact checkers were used to check whether or not the politicians were telling the truth, but apparently that didn't even matter. Past elections you never saw this kind of technology or social media use, which is kinda cool.
3.) Digital polls and analysis are basically useless. I think social media is whats gonna determine what gets put up. With all the fake news that is out there I don't think the news outlets are going to be very important. Fake news sites like the ones used on Facebook will need to be removed so the people can be informed on what is really happening.
1. The one that I found attractive to my eye is https://www.isidewith.com/ because it really reflects on what I believe in regardless of what other people think and I would not have to worry about other people judging who I am siding with because this site did it for me. For short, I do not have to ride the bandwagon.
ReplyDelete2. On the past, technology did not have a key role on the elections that took place because technology isn't far advanced yet back in the days. But now that it can effect the election in several ways.
The people can now decide who will they side with in the elections just because of the social media or sites that might uncover the secrets of the candidates.
3. The technology that will be the most beneficial in the future applications in smartphones. Since almost everyone has a smartphone, they meaning the government or the people themselves can create an application in which every eligible citizen can vote which will save money and time. And of course, the security level should be to the maximum if that was the case.
3. I feel social media will be most influential on politics in the future. Donald Trump shows this on a daily basis when he uses twitter. Whether you support him or not people are very tuned into what he has to say daily.
1. The one I found the most interesting was the open secrets, because it shows all the corruption and money that is used, that way I can pick and see who does the less and from there I can decided, I also like it because it stood out and the User interface is nice and also its very very easy to use.
ReplyDelete2. Technically Electronics Have played a huge role in the way people vote, for one example there was Trump on twitter being a clown, which attracts more people to follow him just to see the next big thing, you can also just vote online whenever you want and you dont have to wait in line for ever, you can also vote through mail like my dad.
3. I feel like there is a big chance that technology will take over and social media will change how we vote in the future, like one example would be Trump, I know everyone uses him as an example but its because he says a lot of dumb things on his Twitter and everyone will tune in just to see what the next big thing that he says will be. You don't need to necessarily support him, but it's interesting to see what he has got to say!
1. I have found the opensecrets.com website to be most useful (I have used it quite a lot in the past). It really puts into perspective the kind of power and influence that wealthy individuals and corporations have in the American political system.
ReplyDelete2. Technology has quite a large impact on elections. For example the 1960 election was probably decided by the advent of the television and people being able to see John Kennedy in the debates. The computer has and will influence the elections through things like social media and access to large amounts of information regarding politics. The downside to this is that anyone can find anything to back their view up regardless of their sources being credible or not.
3. Social media seems to have the largest impact as the general public has wide access to it and it is an easy way to get your message out. Small posts that take seconds to create and upload probably has a larger impact than laying out the facts of politics to the American people because to be completely honest the American people do not care.
1) Isidewith is the most interesting website because it can compare candidates side by side and has unbiased information about the candidate. The news is usually biased when it comes to spreading information about candidates, and i'm not talking about ABC or NBC. Usually those are somewhat accurate, but news sources such as Buzfeed are extremely biased against Republicans and Fox biased against Democrats. Isidewith is not biased against any candidate.
ReplyDelete2) Today's technology impacts the election in a dynamic way like no other time. Candidates can wage Twitter wars, people can watch elections, and scandals are relentless. Back then in the 1960's, people could actually watch debates on TV and it put a whole new layer on the election. People could see the personality of the candidate without having to go to a speech or event.
3) By far social media has the largest impact on the opinions of the public. Social media has practically taken over the world, with billions of people using it. Unless you're really into politics, you're not going to spent actual time getting up and looking at polls that aren't on NBC or CNN. The quickest way to get to know you're candidate (and in today's world nothing else matters but how little time something takes) is on social media.
1. Popvox is the tool I find most interesting. The website lets you get feedback from representatives and see what they tell other people. Popvox is more open with feedback.
ReplyDelete2. Technology played a much larger role in this election than it did in previous elections. In previous elections technology was used to collect and show poll results. Technology this election was what decided who won. Donald trump used twitter a lot to say what he was thinking. Hillary lost because of the email scandal that Trump used a lot.
3. I think Social media or any media will be the most influential in future elections.
1.) POPVOX because it will and has helped us find what is going on at a very high level and you get heard when you ask or say something which is very good because it gives us more of a voice.
1. Opensecrets.com is the most interesting one to me because it shows us how wealth in America can affect the election and how it can affect political parties.
ReplyDelete2. Technology never used to be like what it is today. Technology is the main reason nowadays that a candidate is not elected. Elections back then were based on how good the candidate was and not about their personal life
3.The media is going to be the most influencial in future elections because there is multiple media sources with different opinions. The media can make or break someones campaign based on opinions and facts about them in the past.
