  1. 1. One major difference between technology today and 20 years ago is the use of Smart Phones. Our phones now encompass the use of all of our technology and allow us to access media at any time and at pretty much any location very easily. Unlike before we have all of the internet just in our pocket.

    2. Technology seems to unite our society, so certain trends and beliefs spread among groups of people through social media platforms. It sways peoples opinions on topics whether it be for the better or for the worse. People are much more accountable for their actions in the public eye as nearly everyone will know about it in full detail. One example is the Wells Fargo scandal and how it was covered in full and spread throughout our society very rapidly. Another is Trump's actions and the reputation it builds for him.

    3. Technology hasn't really affected my life as it really is just a past time. It however is responsible for all of my income allowing me to live a certain lifestyle as I make money online.

  2. 1. Technology today and technology 20 years ago has changed drastically. Everything technology related object has been so much easier to use than it was 20 years ago. Also, the internet has gained so much more sites overtime.

    2. The impacts i see on the society technology wise are the phones. If you take a phone 20 years ago and compared the two, you will be amazed. If you look at the I phone 2 it came out in 2007 that phone has a big difference to the I phone 7 the came out this year.

    3. Technology has affected my life in a very positive way. I My socials skills have increased when i am on social media etc. Also, technology has affected me by making my life easier. I can even imagine how hard life was compared to now.

  3. 1.Twenty years ago,According to some estimates, there were just 10,000 websites and two million computers connected to the Internet -- small potatoes compared to today's 45 billion web pages and roughly four billion web users.
In 1994, Amazon and Yahoo, were in the beginning stages. Poynter reports Netscape Navigator was the first commercial web browser launched that year, two years before Microsoft Internet Explorer and 10 years before Mozilla Firefox.

    2. Cellphones and computers have infected our society to where almost everyone in our communities has one or has used one in their lifetime. cellphones have infected teenagers to the point where we cannot stop looking at them. computers have been used for social media and gaming purposes.

    3. I play on my Xbox 360 whenever i have the chance and i play for several hours on end. i use my cellphone all the time and use it to speak to my friends and play music and mobile games.

  4. 1. Over time, technology has changed to allow people to communicate more quickly and efficiently; it has become the ultimate mode of convenience for people who wish to perform tasks that would have taken a long time in the past. Technology has gone from a means to make difficult tasks
easier to a means for making easy tasks easier.

    2. Technology has even provided opportunities for students all over the world to receive an education online, while still maintaining work schedules and family. Students are now able to take webinar courses and attain their degree online just as any student on campus. with the explosion of wireless communication in the early twenty-first century, we can say that humankind is now almost entirely connected, albeit with great levels of inequality in bandwidth, efficiency, and price.

    3. I live on the internet I hang out on the net, research on the net, play on the net, converse on the net, shop on the net. Read on the net. I have access to things that I would never have access to without. I have not been to library outside of looking for something specific in years. I buy most of books as ebooks and read on the comp. I buy most of my music online as mp3 files. The list goes on. I am even going to go back to school online.

  5. 1) Technology today has improved drastically from twenty years ago. The very prime difference between now, and then is the way technology was created along with the capabilities and limits of each individual item. Each time an upgrade, or a better version of a tech is released, it in itself is evidence of broken limits and new capabilities being reached.

    2) Two highly notable impacts from twenty years ago, one would be the path that medicine is taking. Things such as nanobot technology and also more detailed scanners allowing for better detection and prevention of disease and illnesses nationwide. The other notable impact on our society is the way our everyday life has changed. More smartphones and more usages of computers, tablets, and electricity. To recap, medicine and the digital world are two most notable impacts on our society as a whole.

    3) Admittedly, technology has affected me in ways such as video games and also the very outdated smartphone I possess. I only three years ago got this smartphone, and it is something I use at least once every hour. As for video games, I'd use either my computer or my Xbox One to wind down and relax. Overall, these two forces have greatly changed my perspective of life, also allowing me to realize what I want to do when I am older.

  6. 1. Technology has changed in many different ways over the last 20 years. The Sony Walkman had already been out for about 15 years 20 years ago. He have progressed so fast in the capacity that our technology can handle. Today we can do so many things on our phone that would have taken hundreds of different devices to do back 20 years ago.

    2. Technology has impacted the way people live in many different ways. The way people interact with each other has changed completely. My best friend lives in Gilbert and I haven't seen him in 6 years, but I still play with him every weekend on Xbox. Technology has also changed how people become productive. There are so many more jobs out there relating to the use of technology it's crazy. There are more divisions for engineers and developers that solely work off of computers instead of real life objects.

    3. Technology has changed my life in many ways. It has helped me to decide what I want to do in my life, it has also kept me entertained for many years. I use it frequently to keep communication between others and it makes almost any task simpler and more enjoyable.

  7. 1. Two decades ago was 1996, the technological difference is huge. Google was not even around until a year later, which changed how we asked questions. Internet was really slow, there were no smartphones.

    2. Before Google you had to use a sub par search engine meaning that if you wanted to ask a question or just learn something you had to go to a library. Now you can just take out a device from your pocket that holds all of humanity’s knowledge.

    3. One example of how technology has changed my life is in computers. Because of them I can type faster than I can write, and allows me to share my essay instead of having to go through several paper drafts. Another way I am affected is by the internet, the internet allows me to play games with my friends, watch TV, and more

    ReplyDelete

  8. 1.)So much has improved since 1996 to today, although there were televisions and phones back then, they were never as advance as now. This time there are smartphones which have a touchscreen capability with built in GPS and audio jacks which is a huge difference and improvement from a nokia which did not have any features but texting and calling.
2.) Technology helps us physically and mentally in our current society. An example is how computers have taken the place of paper and this is great for our ecosystem. This also is much simpler to keep safe with the notes being in the cloud. Another example is the apple watch, this watch keeps track of our fitness throughout the day with feedback and tips on how to be healthy.
3.)Technology is a time saver when it comes to doing work from school. Computers are easy to use and students do not have to worry about erasing or their handwriting. I use my laptop to play games online with my friends and I have so much fun doing it.

  10. 1) The Differences are we are more advanced than 20 years ago, the way we know is because back then they didn't have any of the stuff we did such as, Phones that are Touchscreen, TV with a controller, and even Printer.

    2) Cellphones and computers have infected our society to where almost everyone in our communities has one or has used one in their lifetime. cellphones have infected teenagers to the point where we cannot stop looking at them. computers have been used for social media and gaming purposes.

    3) Technology has changed my life in multiple ways, so perhaps i need to contact my friends in other states i get to use my cellular device to contact them, another example If i needed To look up research for my history class so i can look the subject up instead of going through a whole chapter.

  11. 1. technology 201 years ago is nothing compared to today technology because we enhanced everything and made it better for example we went to button phone to touch screen.

2.google has a search engine before you had to go to the library. now we have cell phone we can take out of our pockets.

3.one example is i don't have to go to the library to look up information now i have a phone to do it for me. Now i can play games online watch tv.

  12. 1. The difference to today's technology to 20 years ago with their technology, but 20 years ago, they only gave the military the technology only and today technology everyone can use it and play or hack or code.

    2. As technology use is increased, it appears to me — and the research backs it up — that the locus of control for a sense of being, which we would want to be inside a person (_Who am I? What am I about? _), has become increasingly external. As our reach can go further out beyond us from our desk or our bedroom, we look further to the outside world to define who we are. So how many friends do we have on Facebook? How many tests do I get in a day? What do I get when I Google myself? I also find in my clinical work a real decrease in self-soothing skills. Because we can go to a chat room at any time and find somebody who can take us out of something or make us feel better, we just aren’t relying on us to take care of ourselves in the same way.

    3. I would say that how technology has affected my life, it made me have a job to help people with their technology and it is giving me help to show people how to use technology to and second time with technology getting me out there and showing who am I and having new friends out in the world.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1) Technology today is a lot more widespread, smaller, accessible, and more commonly used than 20 years ago. Almost everyone can go out and buy a cell phone or computer very cheaply, allowing for more people to be connected than ever before. Along with pricing, the physical size of technology has been reduced to where a computer can be worn on your wrist and this allows people to stay connected no matter where they go. Technology has in general become more common and accessible than ever before compared to 20 years ago.

    2) I see that technology is separating us from the real world and real-world relationships, yet this is not always a negative thing because I am able to connect with others from across the globe, understand their language with translators, and collaborate over the web on projects, all things that would have been difficult or impossible to do in the past. Another way that this has impacted society is spreading ignorance as popular people, news sites, and just simple social media posts can change or create an opinion with possibly false information and facts.

    3) First, technology has given me access to current events and social phenomenon within minutes of these events happening, this is something that newspapers or news channels can do as effectively. Another example would be in school, where a large portion of my work is done online now, completely changing the way I have been educated.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 1. In the past 20 years, technology has reached nearly the entire world, and is no longer a selective service for certain people. As technology advances, things become cheaper and more accessible, as phones and computers can be purchased for fractions of their original prices. Computers no longer need to fill a whole room, as they did in their infancy, as most people of today's society carry them in their pockets with the power of the modern smart phone.

    2. Technology has allowed the world to be connected with one another, with the power of social media and news outlets, an event can reach across the world instantaneously, so everyone can stay up to date. The working world of today's society has also been effected dramatically, as everything can be done efficiently and quicker using the power of internet and all its entails.

    3. I believe that anyone who has constant access to the internet since it became a phenomenon, everybody's life has changed. Technology in recent years has allowed for everything to be digitized, including news, shopping, and productivity. Technology allows me to connect to others, gain revenue, and save all my assignments into the cloud so I can access them later, and won't have to worry about losing papers.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The difference in technology now versus 20 years ago is how advanced it is and how often we use it. We have went from huge computers that require a lot to run to phones that act as computers. Also we have advanced from war that involves guns and fighting in person, now we have gone to cyber warfare to some degree.

I have already given a couple examples, like how we have advanced from having huge computers to having small computers with good quality to big computers with great quality. It is kind of funny, we have went from big to small to big again in terms of how large our technology gets.

Technology has changed my life in many ways, some good and some bad. One of them is music. I enjoy music very thoroughly and it has shaped who I am as a person and persuades me in my attitude and decision making, it also affects my life in many bad ways but to minimize the list I would have to say that it affects my grades, how so? Well I do not have internet at my house and most of the assignments nowadays are over the computer. So it is very hard to complete them.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 1.Technology has changed in size and portability allowing several devices on you at once.

2.Less empathy for others and far less interpersonal relationships.

3.It has given me a plethora of entertainment options and assistance in school.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1. Technology has improved in both size and power compared to 20 years ago. Back in about 1996, it was a technical achievement if someone built their own computer and was able to run both versions of Doom and the all-new Unreal Tournament on the same hard drive. Nowadays, we can do the same things on a phone, a device that's a fraction of that '96 computer's size, and has more power still than that computer (compare >1 GHz in a computer of that age to ~1-1.5 GHz in most phones on the market).

    2. For everything horrible that technology has done (spreading gambling and pornography to more people than before being just the tip of the iceberg), it has provided a collective source of our knowledge and has brought more people together than ever before. Anything one could ever need to know, they can look up in a simple Google search; anyone they could ever want to meet, they could likely chat with over Twitter or some other such social media service.

    3. Well, for one thing, video games, electronic music, and anime are pretty much my life--had I not had a computer/Spotify/Crunchyroll, I probably never would have found out about my three favorite forms of media. In addition, the DAAPS program has given me quicker access to higher level school courses, and in a format that I am more used to than simple paper and pen.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 1. Technology today differs from that of its predecessors from two decades ago in the sense that it is now more mobile and more accessible. Phones today are not limited to clunky receivers and cords in households, but are now most commonly found as handheld devices with touchscreens. Instead of having to visit your local library to find books for a research paper like many students had to do many a years ago, you are capable of accessing all kinds of sources through an online database like Gale. Overall, technology today is faster, easier to use, and more custom to fit the needs of any individual.

    2. The most damning thing I see in our society today with the more prevalent use of modern technology is the lack of in-person interactions. When I was younger, I found myself lucky to be in a neighborhood of kids always outside playing in the street with adults sitting on their front lawns and conversing the day away. I don’t really see that so much anymore, as most kids are now gravitated towards sitting indoors and playing video games all day and night. This is not to say all technology is detrimental to us, though. Modern science with the use of technology is now getting to the point where we can edit an embryo’s DNA sequence to delete genes causing terminal diseases and the like.

    3. I will admit that I am more of a hermit now with constant access to a laptop, a smartphone, an iPod, and a 3DS. I prefer to stay secluded indoors, playing video games when I’m not doing homework. I feel as if I am happier that way. Nevertheless, I will say I have become a little better with socializing with others when engaged in a conversation because I have had practice with chat rooms online over the years. Of course, with the amount of Honors and AP courses I have, it is wonderful to be able to finish the essays and annotation assignments I get quicker from those classes on a computer through Google Docs.

  19. 1. One thing we have now that wasn't 20 years ago are laptops, smart[phone, better tv and social media. The phones back in those days were only for calling and now smartphones, you can do a lot of things like text, instagram, snapchat and many more.
2.snapchat and instagram, there have the most impact because so many people have it and post many pictures a day. It change society a lot because we can talk to people around the world really fast.
    3. It affected me a lot , now i have a smartphone and a xbox that i play friends with and have fun when i'm done with work around the house. The smartphone affected me because i could talk to my friends and plan to do things in weekends.

  20. 1.) Technology has undergone a near infinite amount of changes in 20 years, with some of the most prominent being tech becoming more efficient, smaller, and much more powerful. One the efficient side, everything has become better, with an easy example being things like hard drives, as the hard drives back in 1980 had first started coming out with a single gigabyte of space, whereas today we have up to two terabytes, and in a much smaller physical drive. The smaller part is a little obvious, as tech stuff was giant as it was first coming out, and now we have devices that are a good deal more powerful that fit in our pockets.
2.) One example of the impacts of technology is that almost everyone has something technological, it’s just such a common thing, and a typical thing to see nowadays is people just staring at their devices, and that allows us to stay more connected with each other. Another thing that it has impacted is research, as before, if you wanted to know about something, you’d have to go to a library and look through a giant book for what you need, which would be greatly time consuming, and now when we need something we just look it up on whatever devices we have, taking mere seconds to find the answers.
3.) I’d probably say that like 90% of me has been brought about because of technology, as my life is basically mainly gaming, which I primarily use the various Playstation models to play my main series, being Kingdom Hearts, and then my (soon to be brought back) laptop for other games I play. Another thing that has very heavily influenced my life and made me love technology is the bringing about of the show Code Lyoko, as the show is the main reason why I love technology just because of how it was, so it was because of the creation of that show that impacted my thoughts on the subject.

*Although one thing I am getting really irritated with beyond belief though is the fact that my tablet is not allowing me to access my actual account, hence me using this one*

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1.) Everything is online now a days. Back then there was the internet, but now everything has evolved to use it. 24/7 people are connected to one another via the internet. Everything is also much more compact. Devices just keep getting smaller and smaller and easier to use.

2.) I feel like everyone is both more connected and detached at the same time. Every day we use technology to communicate with each other, we have constant access to being able to talk to other people via the internet, but people are also more detached because they are living less in the moment and more on their devices. Even I'm guilty of this, its not necessarily a bad thing but its definitely detaching this generation somewhat to just be living on their phones.
Pretty much everything uses the internet now a days. It's used in school all the time, and pretty much every business out there uses the internet in one way or another be it for sharing information or making advertisements.

3.) I use technology pretty much all the time, be it playing games or just talking with friends, I use it every day. It is a big part of my life as a whole and pretty much everybody else my age does too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1.) Technology has drastically become more integrated into our lives in the past 20 years. For example, in the 90s the internet was still budding, medicine was second rate compared to today, and robot technology was envisioned hundreds of years in the future. In today's world, the internet has been integrated in almost every aspect of life, from your phone to even your refrigerator! These devices have also become more compact and faster in processing power, as well as more user-friendly.

2.) The first impact on our society that is very prevalent as of late is the effect it has on children. The media and the misinformed alike spew utter garbage nowadays, and children, being impressionable as they are, lap it up. This in turn causes a huge disassociation from reality--coupled with the fact that children are still in development-- and could seriously damage the child's mental state.
A second impact on society as a whole is the disassociation from your peers. The irony of social media is that it deters people from interacting in person. People would rather text or call then meet up and hang out. People just create a nest within their devices, and mainly only communicate using said devices. Even I am no better in this case, though the worldwide connection to the internet allows one to take these devices on the go, which kind of makes up for this, but not entirely.

3.) Technology for one, has allowed for a massive expansion of my learning. And I intend to abuse this in order to learn much more in the future. Technology has also allowed me to become more socially involved as of late, and allowed me to tackle today's sociological problems, and combat those who are inherently wrong in their reasoning with the actual facts.

  23. 1. 20 years ago, electronics like cell phones and computers were much more primitive and not readily used to the extent as they are today. Those kind of electronics were not really used or even owned by everyone. Today, most people would not be seen without their phones. In the last 20 years, people have basically began to rely on their technology and revolved everyday life around what was originally just a small privilege.

    2. Modern technology has allowed any person on the planet to possibly keep in contact with others no matter where they may be. The internet and modern cell phones have allowed people to communicate rather easily with each other. Originally, sending a letter or a message to someone would be a very rare occurrence because of the time it would take as well as the availability of the option. Another massive influence is the speed and availability of certain tasks. Typing out an essay and turning it in online or finding information online is much faster than searching through a library for information or manually writing out an essay to be turned in later. Tasks can easily be done online for a much more efficient and fast progression in certain school or job tasks. Technology has massively changed the world.

    3. I only got a cell phone late 2015, but I have benefitted massively from it. I’ve been able to keep in contact with my friends easier and find information easier than before. It could also be considered a distraction, although I have set it to not notify me about anything during school hours. In the time I’ve had it, my phone has become very useful. Technology is my main source of entertainment every day. I have been playing video games and watching television most of my life. Youtube has currently become something I use most often. Technology is most of my life at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1) Technology has changed a lot in last 20 year, like now a days technology is much more efficient, easy to use and much more powerful than it was 20 years ago and its more used than ever before.

    2) Technologies like simulators are used to train doctors, pilots and people from many other profession more efficiently giving them better way to train. while technologies like social media are separating us from the world, but it also helps us connect with the people from other side of the world.

    3) Technology helps me learn like I watch videos on Youtube on concepts that I dont understand, I use quizlet to revise before exams, there are more pros than cons for the technology

Note: I dont why I cant open my school account on my laptop, so I am using my personal account

    ReplyDelete
  25. 1.) The major difference between technology today and technology 20 years ago is its accessibility. Technology is readily available throughout the world today. Nearly every child has a phone or at least access to one. The internet is no longer an enigma that is only for the select few to use. Technology has become a central part of everyday life for many people. 20 years ago, technology was much more of a luxury.

2.) The first impact that I’ve seen technology have on society is our ability to respond to emergency situations. With cell phones, people can get help no matter where they are. First responders can be contacted immediately and use GPS to pinpoint where they need to go. Twitter is also a site that responds to emergency situations. It serves as a real time news source before the real news can even get there. A second impact on our society is that it has changed the way we communicate. I am not here to argue whether or not communication has improved, but simply that is has changed. People communicate much more frequently than ever before. People text hundreds of times per day as opposed to calling. It is easier to make plans for groups. People overall communicate more and more online, and this sometimes means that they communicate less in person.

3.) Technology has definitely improved my relationships with my friends. I am not a social person by nature, so technology has made it easier for people like me to stay in touch with others. I can text friends or skype them rather than having to plan something in person (which I have never been terribly good at doing). Another way that technology has impacted my life is through its connection to my schoolwork. My assignments have gone from entirely physical papers to nearly entirely digital documents. I have to admit that this has made editing essays immeasurably easier to do.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 1. One difference between almost all technology from today versus 20 years ago is almost everything is handheld or mobile now. In addition to this everything, is much faster and just simpler and easier to use. For example to use the internet in 1996 you would have to stop all phone calls and actually log into your AOL account and wait for it to connect to your internet. But in 2016 it is like 1000 times simpler, now all you have to do is click on the app you want to use, or if you are on a computer open up the web browser and just search away because all the information you would ever want is at your fingertips.

    2. One significant impact that technology has made on society is smartphones. Smartphones have almost completely consumed everyone that owns one, by this I mean like if you have an iPhone or whatever you will probably get on it multiple times a day to respond to a text, check your Snapchat or Instagram whatever the reason is, you are probably almost always using your phone. In addition to smartphones being used almost all the time is the internet. Like the internet is always being used. For example if your phone is just in your pocket and you are not using it it is still connected to your wifi at your house, or like if you are at a mall or something then it is connected to 4g or whatever so even if you are not using your device it is still connected to internet just waiting for a notification so it can buzz.

    3. One example of how technology has affected my life is through Netflix. If Netflix was not invented I really do not know what I would be doing at my house, because almost all the time when I am home I am watching Netflix. The other way technology has made a massive impact on my life is with social media, if social media was not invented I would probably have a lot less fun in life in general, because I am usually on social media like a lot, so like whenever I am on my phone I am probably on Instagram or Snapchat which are my favorite social medias.

  27. 1. The main difference in today and twenty years ago technology is that its much more accessible to everyone. They had the internet, phones (not smartphones but good flip old phones), computers, and other tech and now it all is much more advanced like more buttons and options than before. Phones went from brick sized to pocket size with an lcd display. Computers now come with a processor at least 5 times faster than most computers back then.
    2. Impacts of technology... Some major ones are the use of phones, they are basically mini computers now, they have pretty much everything from access to internet to alarms, calculators and even GPS and body sensors. It has made people way too reliant on their phones, because now people would rather google something than ask for help. 2nd thing that shows that society has impacted us is the scientific expansion that came along with the internet and video calling and other forms of communication. We have progressed more in the recent years than in the last 1000+ years, we as humans have cured many diseases, have better hygiene, access, education, health and other stuff.
3.It has helped me get educated quite a lot, from studying for tests to just random questions that i had, and at the same time it has made me more lazy because i learned of the beauty of video games in which i spend hours and days playing on end. Technology is the holy grail of the 21 century, who knows what it will bring us in the upcoming years.

And i wouldnt be typing this if it wasnt for the access to the internet

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1. Mostly the difference is that technology is more involved in business and that makes it hard to run a business without using some sort of technology. Technology has also effected the amount of jobs that are available.
    2. As i said the business aspect is very large impact as the technology part adds new skills to gain and makes some other older jobs obsolete.
    3. There are news things or skills that I want to learn because of the technology furthering. It opens up a whole new world for some people which is why older folks are disconnected for it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 1. There are tow main ways that technology has advanced over the past twenty years. The first way that technology has evolved is through size, technology has become monumentally smaller and thinner. It has also become much more powerful through the year, and now the phone that can fit in my pocket has more processing power than the computer that sent rockets to the moon.
    2. Technology has a great many uses. First off, it provides nearly limitless forms of communication, from instant messaging, to tweets on twitter, to sending pictures to your friends for 4 seconds. Technology has also greatly improved on students' ability to learn and the entire education process. There are now computers in nearly every school in America, and the type of learning that occurs now is much different from that of twenty years ago simply because of the implementation of technology.
    3. Personally, I mainly use technology as a form of communication. I talk and text with my friends, and I use multiple forms of social media to communicate with the rest of the world. Technology has also been a great help in school, since I certainly find it easier to type an essay and be able to go back and make corrections than it if to write one up by hand.

  30. 1) In the last 20years the internet has become a bigger and bigger part of people's lives. Internet is available almost anywhere we go. People can't go 20 minutes without checking their phones. Earlier, people went without internet and communicated fine.

2)People become either less or more social. They can spend all their time on Facebook socializing and not socialize in the real world. However, you can meet more people online.
People also lose sleep due to being on their phones. It can be unhealthy how much time people spend on their phones.

3)Technology has affected my life in almost every way possible. It makes homework easier. I can look up answers on Google. It makes shopping easier with Amazon and other websites and apps. It makes listening to music easier and cheaper with Pandora and Spotify. It pretty much makes everything more efficient and better.

  31. 1. Technology has evolved and had a great impact on people's lives over the past 20 years. People use technology for business, entertainment, security, education, communication, etc. The reason technology has become so widely used is because it is personalized for your own benefit and continues to get better. I have friends that live far away or go to other schools and because of social media and Xbox I can communicate with them and play video games.

    2. Technology has spawned a digital platform called the internet. The internet has allowed people to freely express themselves and not get persecuted for it in real life. There is, of course cyber bullying, however people that take real offense in this sort of manner should probably get off the internet. It is noticeable and commonly stated that because of the internet and TV and other reasons, people stay indoors much more often. This can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. People are entertained and can learn new things, but also affects their social lives (in real life) and health.

    3. I provided an example in the first question about how I am able to communicate with friends, however I'll provide two more. I am able to access answers to homework questions that I am otherwise not able to access immediately (like back then you'd use a dictionary or encyclopedia). TV is another way I use technology. I usually watch whatever is on, the news, sports, or just watch Netflix or Hulu.

  32. 1. The main difference in technology today and 20 years ago is that technology is incorporated in almost everyday life. 20 years ago people didn't have mobile phones, so they didn't use phones everyday. Today basically everyone has a smartphone on them and uses it whenever they can.

    2. One impact I see technology has had on the world is in school. Work used to be turned in psychically at school, but now school work can be turned in online. Another impact technology has had on society is it has allowed more commutation. With technology people has many options in talking with others using apps like kik, facebook, twitter, and more.

    3. Technology has affected my life in many ways. One way is it has given me a way to enjoy entertainment. With Youtube and Netflix i can watch content basically anywhere Another way technology has affected me is it has allowed me to stay in contact with friend and family easily. I can use facebook to see how all my family is doing. Technology also allows me to talk to my friends outside of school with Skype and apps like kik.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1 The difference between the technology today and 20 years ago is that now technology has become more acceptable and more accessible. People 20 years ago had to share a home phone and remember phone numbers, but now everybody has a phone and you just have everyone in your contacts. People now are more connected through technology than in real life. 20 years ago everyone was more social with less technology.
2 Two impacts I see in today's society is in social bonds and the news of what is going on right now. In social bonds, you can see that families no longer talk with each other as much at the dinner table everyone is either watching TV or on their phones. Rather than communicating and building relationships people are just in front of screens. The other impact is news going around. Now people know everything that has happened all over the world. Everyone has status updates, new posts, and all of the recent events. Information spreads like wildfire and everyone can see it.
3 Technology has affected my life as a way for me to learn how to do things and get news on what is going on and be up to date. It has also made me less social around my family when I use it as entertainment. Instead of talking to them I am watching a video on my phone.

  34. 1. Technology has taken a massive leap forward in the last 20 years. That long ago, there was less than 10 million computers on the internet, and now there’s over 4 billion. Now, most people use a computer everyday when back then almost no one used computers, it was mostly for scientists and researchers, and computers were just starting to become more popular to have in households. And not even just desktop computers have changed, now we have smartphones that we take everywhere in our pockets that connect to the internet wirelessly, things people probably couldn’t even imagine back then.

    2. One impact that people talk about a lot is that things like social media actually make people less social. More teenagers and others are looking at their phone during social events that they’re not actually talking to the other people in front of them in the real world. One good thing that technology has changed, though, is how quick sending information has become. Now, you can instantly call someone or text them, and if it’s a very important message they can see it or hear it almost immediately. Without today’s technology, we would still be sending letters whenever we needed to talk to someone that was more than a few miles away, which was terribly inefficent compared to today’s methods.

    3. Technology has had a huge effect on my life, because it’s pretty much a way of life now. If I never had technology, I could probably live without it, but now I’ve pretty much become dependant on it. I use my phone whenever I’m bored and need something to do, or whenever I need to talk to someone about anything where I can’t just walk up to them and talk. Also, I play video games all the time and use technology to do much of my schoolwork, like this blog right now.

  35. 1. By now, as compared to 20 years ago, we have hit the point where the talents and abilities of the computer have succeeded the abilities of an average human being. Computers can now regularly do more, faster, and more accessibly than a person can.

    2. Beliefs and statements have become more questioned, and children are being exposed to a thought process that might vary greatly from that of their parents at a very young age. This openness of the Internet has also exposed children, however, to darker content at a younger age. My little brother used to be intimidated by Casper the Friendly Ghost, but now reacts to violence, gore, and other profanities with a sense of nonchalance.

    3. Without the internet, there is no way I would have realized that I was Aromantic Asexual, and would have probably lived my life unfulfilled and confused with myself. Technology is also helping me with my video game project. Without our current technology, there is no way I could make the story or game I wanted to make.

  36. 1. The difference between the technology of today and 20years ago is that the way that the technology of today hooks us and entertain us into another whole new level. And compared to 20 years ago, the technology doesn't last long and it is not as interactive as oppose to what we have today.

    2. The first impact of technology on society is the lack of censorship. As the article said "it was hard to sneak off and watch an incredibly violent movie or pornography or something. But now with iPods and devices with screens the size of a watch, there is a total lack of accountability," The 2nd impact is that technology gets rid of eye to eye conversation on relationships causing relationships to fall. Even with snapchat, and webcams, it is just NOT the same as with looking at the person in real time. It just feels not real. You know that the person is there but it just doesn't feel right...

    3. Technology affected my life a little. I use technology to run away from the reality of being an adult but in the long run, it will probably help me too. The 2nd thing is that technology probably made me less social but in exchange with all the knowledge and information in technology, I think it's worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 1. The difference in technology between today and 20 years ago is that modern technology is geared toward absolute convenience and entertainment. 20 years ago, technology was mostly used for business practicalities, while today, services such as Netflix and Facebook keep us entertained and connected to others.

    2. Technology has greatly impacted our generation's skillsets and social abilities. While this generation might have the want to change the world and the ability to socially interact through social media, it does not account for the lack of practical skills or social abilities that we have.

    3. Technology has allowed me to access knowledge from around the world, though sites like Khan Academy or even simply Wikipedia, as well as connect with friends on the other side of the globe. Whether I'm Skyping friends or researching for a project, technology has a big impact on my life.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 1. Technology was in it's early phases 20 years ago. Computers were still magic boxes with not a lot of processing power, and people were still trying to figure out what to do with them. Cut to now and computers are all over the place. The phone in your pocket is probably 100x more powerful than that old dinosaur desktop sitting in your attic.

    2. Technology has flattened our world. It has become much easier to communicate with others and share ideas. We are more connected today with each other than we have ever been in human history. Not to mention, we also have access to limitless knowledge at our fingertips. This day in age it's a choice to be ignorant.

    3. Technology has allowed me to connect with some of the best people I have ever known with software like Discord, Steam, Skype etc. Technology has also given me a way to find out more about the world, I can use the internet for my questions instead of having to ask people that might not know the true answer.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 1. Technology is a'lot more accessible then it was back then, you can find it in public places all the time now. I would say technology has gotten a'lot more smaller, and powerful. Information is passed around in an instance now, people talk and play with people from other continents now.

    2. 1 Technology has made manufacturing a'lot more easier since we can print 3D metal parts now, food production has increased.
2 A'lot of people are on the internet at all times now almost as if they lived on the internet. It is almost impossible to do anything without using modern technology.

    3. 1 It is my primary source of entertainment and information.
2 Technology has saved my life, and made me healthier.

    ReplyDelete
  40. 1. Technology has affected us in many ways. We have also changed the way we interact with different people. People used to write letters make phone calls and now we just text. The funny thing is, we all have phones, yet we don't use their primary function.

    2. Technology has impacted our society as a whole because we do not talk face-to-face anymore because all we do is look at screens. (Pretty ironic because that is what i'm doing right now).

    3. Technology has affected my life in a way that is different from others. Technology has shown me what is going on in the world, has given me entertainment, and the ability to talk and play games with my friends.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 1. First off, Technology has greatly evolved over the last two decades. The computer that once took up an entire room can now easily fit in our pocket, and it is way more powerful. This has allowed people to do thing that were never imaginable back then. For example, wirelessly accessing the internet was most likely not even a dream, but today, it is almost a necessity. This has also changed the way that people interact with each other, with things such as social media being one of the premier forms of communication.

    2. Technology has really impacted peoples communication. Instead of paper mail and phone calls, people now send emails and text messages. This seems to have 'sped up' communication between people, since it is now easier to see emails and messages on your phone than it was with mail and phone calls. Technology also seems to have changed what people see as entertainment. Back in the day, there was only a select few activities that people did to entertain themselves, but now, through technology, the choices seem nearly unlimited.

    3. Technology has truly helped with my communication with friends. I am now able to talk, text, and send pictures to them from pretty much anywhere I go. This has helped me stay connected to the other people in my life. Technology has also greatly aided my education. The ability to write, make corrections, and electronically submit multi-page essays has been invaluable to my learning experience.

  42. 1)The differences in technology today from 20 years ago is pretty big. There had been many thing that has changed in technology, such as Cell Phones. Cell Phones have been updated a ton and now we can talk to anyone anything we have our phone. Technology today had kind of changed the world, just because you see everyone now on there Technology, but 20 years ago there was nothing like that, people had to communicate a lot more in person.
    2) One thing that I think Technology has made our society has greatly improved on communication, we have phones to Text or Call, Computer to send a Email, there is so many more choices we have today in our society. The second thing is that Technology has made jobs easier for people to do there work. Most jobs today would not have been jobs 20 years ago because we have well operation computers to do stuff and help us with jobs.
    3) Technology has affected my life because I can use a computer to do homework, play video games and talk to friends. Technology had made talking to friends easier too, I can just use my phone and send them a send or call them and ask them what they might be doing. If my mom might be late to come pick me up from soccer I can call her and see where she might be.

    ReplyDelete
  43. 1. Technology has changed to allow people to communicate faster and efficiently. It has become the number one go to for people who perform tasks that would have taken them a long time. Technology has evloved to make difficult tasks easier and easier.

    2. Technology has provided opportunities for students to receive an education online while still being about to work and be with family. Students are now able to take online classes and get their degree online like any student in school. With all the newer and faster technology we can say that this generation is almost entirely connected.

    3. There are many ways that technology has affected my life. One way that technology has affected my life is it has connected me to my friends more. I can talk to my friends anytime I want to and I can play games with them online and have fun with them without them being at my house. Another way that technology has affected my life is it has made it easier to do my schoolwork. When homework is assigned, the internet has made it way easier to do it and I can also look up videos to help me with what I don't understand.

  44. 1.With technology evolving as fast as it is, the technology of only 20 years ago in the 90’s is so drastically different from today. Smart technology didn't exist, smartphones and tablets were nonexistent, computers were much less powerful and common, and the internet was still in it’s younger years.
2.For one, information is never farther than a fingers press away. Our phones are pocket computers that give us access to almost anything we want to know. It has also brought us many more ways of communication, with social media being extremely common among everyone.
3.How has technology affected my life. I use it every hour of every day, and night. It's what I use far almost all my entertainment, work, and it keeps me alive with my medical condition.

  45. 1. Technology has changed drastically over the past 2 decades. Twenty years ago you had to have a dedicated phone line to use the internet. Now there is wireless internet. Cell phones have changed as well. Flip phones where popular 20 years ago. Now everyone has smartphones which do almost everything one could want and more. The use of the internet has evolved as well. Originally the internet was used for research purposes and now it is use for so much more. Social Media has become very impact full on our society where as 20 years ago it was almost non existent.
    2. Technology has had both positive and negative impacts on our society. Technology has improved education and learning processes. Technologies like smart whiteboards, computers, mobile phones, iPad's, and internet are being used in classrooms to help student better learn. A negative impact technology has had on society has caused people to be less engaged with each other. At school when I'm in the lunch room I notice most of my fellow students are constantly on their phones or laptops.
    3. It has helped me with school. I am a very visual learner and most technology is geared towards visual learners. It has also helped me keep in touch with friends and family I normally wouldn't speak to regularly. I use snapchat, face time and texting to do this.

    ReplyDelete
  46. 1. Over the years technology has evolved to become faster and smaller. There used to been phones the size of bricks and computers that took forever to load a page. Now we have phones that aren't even an inch high and computers that can load a page in an instant.
    2. One impact that I see in our society today is that we communicate more through our devices than we do in person. Also it has changed the society's learning system by giving teachers devices that make it easier for students to learn. For example they use: computers (to communicate to students from any location), projectors (to show the class an image or video), and whiteboards/smartboards (to display an image with the ability to edit it).
    3. Technology has affected my life by getting me information through the internet. Also it has affected my communication by giving me the ability to text and make phone calls from a different location.

  47. 1. The difference between technology 20 years ago and today is that technology is way more advanced than it was 20 years ago. People did not used technology as much as people use it today 20 years ago.

    2. Two major impacts of technology in our society is that it takes up a lot of peoples time and it affects the intelligence and social part of being a human. It also helps us in many ways and the world is mope functionable to live in.

    3. Technology has affected my life in many ways but two major ones are Entertainment and schoolwork. Technology is used to entertain in may ways. I use technology for schoolwork because of Google docs and Genyes.

  48. 1.) no computers, cell phones, WiFi, or colored television. they had to go out and bike to their friends house if they wanted to seem them not sit at home and Skype their friends.

it makes people not want to go outside much and lets them just sit at home and they become very lazy. and it makes people not want to belive people who know their facts.

it has made me be introduced to this class and if i hadn't found out what technology was i wouldn't be where i am today. Tech has made me open up to people and express my feelings about technology (such as laptops, Xbox & PlayStation, and televisions.)

  50. 1) 20 years ago technology was really low because the only things in development was computers. Phones were used but they only worked for calls.
    2) Technology is making our society lazy. Because people are being less active and can now do stuff just by saying a simple word to trigger a device that can do stuff for you, again bad.
    3) Technology is really affecting me and is making it harder for me to concentrate. I can use technology for many things for helping me at school but I don't take that advantage, instead I just chat with my friends online.

  51. 1.The difference between today's technology and 20 years ago is a big difference,an example the cell phone.
2.The cell phone is a big impact to society because its a portable calling device, also the internet aka wifi it allows us to use the wide web.
3.Here are two examples of how technology has change my life. For example consoles i have an xbox one and it is good for when u are bored. Also my cell phone which allows me to watch youtube.

  52. 1) There is a huge difference between technology today and technology 20 years ago. 20 years ago, no one had ever even thought of a cell phone becoming a reality, let alone a smart phone. There is also a massive change in what can actually be done with technology today vs. technology then. Technology today can process massive amounts of data and complete millions of calculations per second on a chip that can easily fit in the palm of your hand.
    2) The advancements in technology have definitely made the world more technologically focused. It has led to a much less socialized world (and no, social networks do not count as being social) but also have led to revolutions in the scientific and entertainment worlds.
    3) Technology plays a big part in my life. Not only do I use it all the time at school to learn and research, but I also use it to communicate with classmates and coworkers outside of school. I also use technology for entertainment, playing a variety of video games and watching cloud sourced TV and video sharing platforms like YouTube and Netflix.

  53. 1. Tech was different 20 years ago because it was not as advanced, there was not as much, and it was more expensive so people spent more time outside and now a lot of us spend most of are time inside.
    2. Some of the effects of technology on today's society is now people talk over technology and instead of in person and people don´t go outside as much because they have tech to entertain them indoors but it also makes life easier it helps people make payments faster and more efficient, keep good connection with people and just make life funner.
    3. Tech changed my life by making communicating easier and making life easier by giving us applications to help us with anything and it just makes life funner and interesting.

3)Technology made things easy for me, Like Presentations, Home work, and Communication.

  56. 1. There is a huge differnence in tech from today to back 20 years ago. Because these days we have holograms that can show you a butterfly and how it looks up close. Back 20 years ago tech could barely show you a game with high res. Back in the day games and storage devices weren't as big as today. The games uses blocks and pixels to show you what to do. Storage devices used were a lot smaller storage opacity than today where you can carry a 20GB drive in a pocket. Where 20 years ago a 2GB drive was much too big to carry around normally.
    2. The main impact I have seen is the storage in devices, because we can carry 8GB things in our pockets like nothing. When back in the day 18MB was as big as out phones. That's a huge massive difference and impact we have made to store things we have. Another good change was the tech for phones. 20 years ago people had to use public phones or carry around a brick just to call people and radiate your head.
    3. one would be how phones are made and used now because we can do school work in them without being at school. and another would be how we can use computers at a fast pace and not wait for 2 hours just to see an image of your homework. So mainly Phones and Computers changed to me a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  57. 1. Extremely portable computers have changed everything about the modern world. People carry these insanely powerful devices around in abundance. Communication has never been this easy. In the modern day, it can be very difficult to stay afloat without using these highly complicated resources.

    2. Social interactions have changed greatly. Instead of writing letters or stopping by someones house, you can contact them while you're out getting coffee. The need to physically be on the same place is gone. Some might say that this is hurting our society, but I'd consider it more of a change, and not just a negative effect.

    3. I've had access to technology my entire life, its hard to say how its affected my life, because it has always been a part of my life. I want to say its been positive, but with the adoption of this new lifestyle comes it own downsides as well, as would any change on this large of a scale.

  59. 1. The biggest difference from 20 years ago to now is the power of technology. New things are invented every day which is increasing the rate at which we learn new things. New phones used to take years but now it takes less than a year. People are now try to get the full use of what they have at their fingertips and they might be going overboard.
    2. One good thing is it allows us to dream and expand our hopes. The current generation wants to change the world but they do not know how and this is amazing since this generation can change the world and probably for the better. The bad thing is that this not knowing could be bad if we stop growing at the rate we are.
    3. Technology has greatly affected my life in my goals and how I have learned. I hope to make games with it because I love doing it. My love for technology brought me to GenYES and it has given me so many opportunities. I now work in IT teaching other people about this tech.
