The Differences
1. Back in the 90s and even slightly before, people primarily used extremely basic and not terribly intuitive, not very user-friendly programs like Performer and Max, but in the very opening of the 1990s, a slew of more user-friendly and powerful programs like Cubase and Pro Tools began to be produced for the public as well as big studios.
ReplyDelete2. The Ultramaximizer plagued a lot of big hits since it boosted the sound of the entire track (nowadays, people tend to use a similar process and call it "bass boosting"); in addition, the ever-present Autotune was also introduced in the mid- to late- 90s, and it has infected the music industry ever since
3. One of the big pieces of software that you hear all of the upstarts use is FL Studio, of course, mainly because they probably believe that name-dropping a big piece of software will give them some form of credibility in the ever-expanding music scene. Reaper, on the other hand, looks kinda fun to toy around with, I might wanna give that a try.
4. "Better" is a very vague term, and the question itself isn't terribly specific, so I'm going to assume that it means "How is modern software better from their older counterparts". In that case, the modern software is significantly more user-friendly, and more powerful in many ways.
howdy, your websites are really good. I appreciate your work. motu patlu
Delete1.The 1990s marked the commercial breakthrough of electronic music. At the time larger studios were the only parties that could afford to buy high-end recording and production equipment
ReplyDelete2.now technology is so compact and affordable that producers don't need large studios to gain access to the essential tools of electronic music.
3. electronic producers now have access to a raft of innovative recording, manipulation and production equipment available at low cost in their own home studios, meaning electronic music is produced more quickly and frequently than ever before.
4.These technologies allow anyone who wants to get into music the possibility
1. Dance-based music was pretty big in the 90's, so when music electronic tools came out, they were often used to create a fast and upbeat tune. An example of some popular technology would be
ReplyDeleteDrum machines, as they were often used to (try and) replace actual drummers.
2. Standards for music production are much more strict than they were in the 60's for example. With the new music tech, all music became more complicated which increased the time and difficulty of making a song.
3. Manipulation and editing are huge parts of the industry now, and have even created genres of their own. Edit heavy music uses tools such as auto-tune and splicing programs.
4. This is an improvement for two main reasons:
(1).Anyone with a mic and recording software can make good music.
(2). Music as a whole becomes more intricate and complex, leading to more genres and (seemingly) limitless potential.
1. Musical Instrument Digital Interface and Digital Audio Workstations were used on the 90s to make electronic music. A Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) is a communication messaging protocol allowing a computer to digitally interact with a musical instrument. A Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) operates much like an automation software.
ReplyDelete2. DAW is more complex software than their 1990s predecessors. Today producers uses this software.
3. People now use Drum Pads to make electronic music. People also use their mobile devices since we have apps.
4. It much better because it’s much easier to use and it sounds much better. It’s much easier than the turntables because we have to push down buttons and its super simple.
1.People used to use electronic programs because of the high demand and uprise of EDM (Electric Dance Music). Tools that would wrap music or lay down tracks with giving the user the option to tweak them started to rises.
ReplyDelete2.Yes it has, it brought a generation that is not only about the lyrics of music genres such a hip-hop but almost making it a necessity to have clean beat that supports the type of lyrics or singing style you use.
3. Today people use autotune and turntables. The can also warp using multiple amounts of programs to morph and create music and adding sounds they usually wouldnt get.
4. It is better because of the numerous amounts of abilities you can use with the newer devices and programs. It allows anyone to become an artist as long as they have a proper program.
1. As technology was advancing in the 1990's, new hardware allowed people to make new kinds of music, birthing EDM and similar types of tunes. Turntables and such could allow the artist to manipulate the songs they were creating to add some originality each time they played it.
ReplyDelete2. With technology everything has simplified, including music production, and new abilities can be used with the resources of today. You can also put on a production with much less equipment, unlike during a few decades ago.
3. Today people use things like sound boards, launch pads, and complex software to make the music of today's age.
4. I personally prefer Electronic music compared to tradition music, and it allows any one with a computer to make their own music, rather than having to have years of practice with an instrument.
1) MIDI or Musical Instrument Digital Interface and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) were used highly in the 90s to make varieties of electronic music. MIDI, is a communication protocol that allows a computer to interact with an instrument digitally.
ReplyDelete2) Yes, because without the corner stones of music production, music wouldn't be as it currently is today; an ever expanding ocean of different types of beats and metronomes combined into the one creating a piece of music that flows with the type of genre. Djs or Disc Jockeys were a big part of the rise in hip hop music with the invention of turntables which are still used today, but have been improved upon to fit this era.
3) Turntables are still used in nightclubs and in certain events and concerts. Now however, the other things that are used in this generation is music altering or creating programs such as FL Studio and L1 Ultramaximizer to create a new unique beat and flow.
4)These things are better because it shows that as whole the music industry has been progressing and evolving to new heights to both innovate and keep up with all the other advancements that time continues to provide as the world moves through it.
1) One of the big technologies of the early computer era was the Walkman, a cassette player in your pocket. As time went on, more and more ideas were brought to the table and things like MIDI and DAW arose in the 90s.
ReplyDelete2) These devices and methods were the base for the production of music in the modern era. Every process has to start somewhere and advance on from there, and this stage of technological development was necessary.
3) Turntables and similar devices are still used in a modern environment, but the rise of computer technologies has created electronic alternatives and programs that can do the same processes and more.
4) These new programs are better because it opens up the world of musical production to a whole new set of people.
1.) People used MP3 players, and those themselves were "new" and "hip". Things like EDM's were also popular during the 90's.
ReplyDelete2.) Of course there has, new styles of music = new music creation kits themselves, although most of it is done online with software and programs now. Softwares like FL Studio and Garage Band are two examples of music creating softwares.
3.) FL Studio is used today and things like LaunchPads are taking over the new music creation industry.
4.) It's a lot more better because it allows people to create bigger and better music and music creation. It also allows people to have a better idea of how to create music, and using imagination is one essential skill that's needed in the world. People can do this straight from their homes.
1. One of the things people used in the 90's was the Sony Walkman. It was a portable mp3 player that everyone could take on the go anywhere that they wanted. It provided a convenient use for listening to music while on the go.
ReplyDelete2. The Sony Walkman paved the way for the iPod which was basically the Walkman 2.0, the Walkman revolutionized the portable music industry with its easy to use and convenient design.
3. Some of the things people use today for listening to music are their phones. The cell phone made portable music devices obsolete because not only can you have all the features of a cell phone (texting, calling, etc..), but you can also use it for your personal playlist.
4. The cellphone is just straight up better than the original Walkman. It has newer tech, can hold more music that the Walkman ever could, and you can make calls, text, and watch videos with the cellphone. It's just better overall.
1. A lot of people were using Discmans. These were portable CD players for listening to music. They were basically an upgrade to the walkman, however they were also larger.
ReplyDelete2. Kind of. This technology made a need to make smaller sound devices and tadaa, in comes the iPod and mp3 players with the magic of MIDI coding. MIDI also brought more equipment to MAKE music like electronic piano's, drums, etc.
3. Phones, bluetooth headsets/earbuds, electronic instruments, synthesizers, and a whole lot more music equipment that is mostly digital.
4. Well, electronic pianos don't need to be tuned and take up more than half the space of a grand piano, even if it is compacted (where the strings on the lower keys run diagonally above or below the other strings to save space), and the other electronic instruments don't need to be tuned as well and also make recording to a computer very easy to upload or remix and change.
1. Did you know Auto-Tune was an accident? Exxon engineer Andy Hildebrand accidentally created Auto-Tune. It will bend the pitch to the nearest semitone and center the vocal, so it makes your voice sound really goofy. But So many thought it was great.
ReplyDelete2. Auto-Tune is still available today, however I have not noticed it being used in any recent music. But back in 2014, it was very popular. People just like goofy voices.
3. I lot of music I have heard, are by independent artists. These artists are not too popular but they can make decent music with a very popular program called "FL Studio."
4. FL Studio is much more advanced and can do so much more than Auto-Tune ever could. FL Studio can allow you to make complete orchestrated music without ever touching an instrument.
1. Some of the biggest tech things in the 90’s were such items like the Walkman, Windows 95, and Tamagotchis. One of the biggest craze of all time, tamagotchis, took the world by storm with their popularity, giving kids days upon days worth of entertainment. It was your very own virtual pet that you could take care of, and it was small enough to hide at school! Why wouldn’t you want 4, or 5, or 6, or 7…
ReplyDelete2. With tech like a walkman, it was now easier to carry music with you and be able to listen to it anywhere with ease. The world changed when music became portable, with Sony producing minidiscs and handheld cd players, anyone could bring music with them and show it off to all their friends.
3. Some music programs people use today include FLStudio and some tech for music just include iPods. While iPods have been around for a while now (even since mid 90’s) they have come a long way in providing entertainment including music on the go. Everything about the iPod has been music, creating smaller and smaller versions, which can hold more and more every year.
4. Why this is better is because now anyone can have all the music they’ve ever listened to right in their pocket, when only 20 years ago you had to carry around a clunky cd player that only contains one cd with about half an hour worth of music. Compared to my very own phone that has 43 DAYS worth of music, I’d say that’s much better.
1. In the nineties they used boom boxes and mp3 players and sony walkmans to listen to music. Mp3 players were the newest coolest things by the end of the nineties.
ReplyDelete2. Mp3 players are really the basis of how we listen to almost all of our music today with our ipods.
Today people use the much more advanced portable music players that are ipods, but that’s only the beginning. Online resources such as itunes, youtube, and spotify make all music easily available to anyone with an internet connection. Finding what you want to listen to has never been more convenient.
4. Nowadays if you hear a song you can whip out shazam and shazam! You know the name and artist of the song and you can listen to that song forever whenever. Every song you can ever want to listen to is only a few button presses away. Online resources provide an awesome means for less popular artists to be noticed by millions of people all over the world.
1. Music editing technology took off during the 90's. The most infamous development for music, Auto-Tune, came into use during this time period, an accidental invention that came out of an attempt to interpret seismic waves. Additionally, FL Studios was created during the 90's.
ReplyDelete2. Of course, Auto-Tune has been one of the most prevalent pieces of software used this century in music. It has become an industry standard in the music business.
3. Again, Auto-Tune is basically everywhere in music. Additionally, FL Studios has become quite standard for musicians and producers to produce music. I learned about it last year during the projects that we did.
4. As time goes on, music production becomes more and more user-friendly. Programs such as Garageband are incredibly easy to use, and it's possible to create a pretty decent song within minimal amount of effort.
1. Auto-tune was used quite a bit during the 90's it was originally supposed to intercept complicated seismic data. It was soon found that it could create a robot like voice. It was first used was in Cher's song "Believe".
ReplyDelete2.Yes Auto-tune set a new standard for music by adding a new way to edit the voices. Since then many songs have used it.
3.Auto-tune is still used today for many songs.
4. It's better because it widened the way music can be.
1. Daws is one of the things they used in and it was developed as a visual programming environment for audio and it operates like automation software.
ReplyDelete2. Lewis originally learnt to produce and perform on a set of vinyl turntables before turning to the modern CDJ later in his career. The CDJ, essentially a CD version of the vinyl turntable, is still an industry standard but Lewis thinks that as technology becomes more innovative, the CDJ will eventually be left behind.
3. Logic was always intended to act as the workstation that bundled everything together, and what has long set it apart from direct competitor Cubase is a suite of plugins that actually sound as good (if not better) than the third party heavy hitters.
4. Logic’s portability and the fact that it was jam-packed with features meant that it was incredibly popular with a huge variety of musicians.
1. Back in the day I remember people using a lots of auto tune to make them sound super cool and robotic. For example Cher - Believe. Is a song from the 90s and it used quite a bit of auto tune. To this day people still use auto tune.
ReplyDelete2. A big impact that happened was the invention of a MP3 player. This device would allow people to travel and listen to their favorite tunes. Also the portable track player that would let them bring their favorite album in a disk with them and let them hear the music, kinda like the baby MP3.
3. Things that people use today is the iPod or a radio. But most people out here mainly use the Apps that allow them to pay for a membership to listen to countless tracks of music. So main thing they use is the iPod and or their phones.
4. It's a lot more better in a way to let more people put up the tunes they make on the internet to people know that these guys are dropping fire mix tapes and pretty much give a wider view of music. Also there are a lot of programs that can help you make music with auto tune!
