  2. 1. This article is talking about Samsung's new Gear VR headset, for their flagship phones (S6, S6E, S6E+, & Note 5). There is a section where you can place your phone in the headset and use the app to experience Virtual Reality with the power of your phone. With this article, the VR audience can foresee the future of a cheaper market for this technology.

    2. This form of VR, allows for a wider range of people to access the technology, by just buying a 100$ accessory for their device. By using the sensors in your phone, it creates virtual world reality, for you to explore.

    3. This device is allowing expansion for the technology, and to see how VR will evolve within the next few short years. Samsung's decision to partner with Oculus (the first real VR company), will help boost sales of the product, as well.

  4. 1.) The piece of technology is a oculus rift rip-off because the people of America can't make up their own ideas.

Two.) Well it would've been it can stream your phone onto the screen so you can watch games and stuff but Oculus has already been there and done that so I can't say anything new is brought to the table.

  5. 1. This article is about the recent advancements in virtual reality thanks to the Samsung Gear VR headset developed in-house by Samsung. This headset requires a relatively modern Samsung handset to run, but provides a simple virtual reality experience, whetting the appetites of most early adopters and technology enthusiasts alike.
    2. When compared to the Oculus Rift which requires a relatively powerful computer to run, the Samsung Gear VR only requires a relatively modern Samsung phone which is granted automatically by most plans with modern phone companies. The phone functions as both the screen and the machine, making the Gear an all-in-one system.
    3. This device definitely brings the concept of virtual reality much closer to reality than was ever possible prior. As the article mentioned, before advances like the Gear VR and Oculus Rift, virtual reality was nothing more than a novelty from the 90's with bulky headsets only usable in arcades and similar establishments. This and the Rift both bring that long-thought dead, but long dreamt-of, gamer's paradise much closer to *ahem* reality.

  6. 1. This article is about the Samsung Gear VR and how it was developed in conjunction with Oculus.

    2. The Samsung Gear VR uses your phone to simulate a 3D environment using an Oculus-like headset. There’s also a top strap that you can affix between the back of the head strap and the top of the device.

    3. This device gets rid of latency that is one of the main causes of VR Nausea. VR Nausea was a very real turn off to buying a VR Headset. The latency and lack of movement flow caused an out of body experience that screwed with your brain and caused heavy nausea. The new Samsung Gear fixes this problem.

  7. 1. The article is about the Samsung Gear VR, which is a new product designed to turn any phone into a virtual reality headset by putting it inside and using specific applications to help it work properly

    2. The thing that makes this idea unique next to the other VR headsets is that it’s much more portable than the others by being able to just be hooked up to any phone and brought around, and they expect to put a lot more into it in the way of entertainment like games and movies. Being portable makes this VR headset much more special unlike the others that are tethered to the computer and running off of it.

    3. The leaps that the Samsung Gear VR makes is that the headset plans on being much more affordable and useful. Much like the Google Cardboard, the Samsung Gear VR plans on making the most out of it, and being able to provide for anyone by making a large amount and having it at a MUCH lower price next to the Oculus Rift’s $600 price tag at $199.

  8. 1. the "new Samsung VR is just Samsung's version of the Oculus rift. All the abilities and ideas in Virtual reality that have been appearing in the past few years. Nothing new or special to be seen here.
2.The only specialty would be availability. The fact that this will be available to the average consumer unlike all it's competitors gives it a huge edge against the other VR devices. In terms of tech its the same deal.
3.It has a sleeker design more comfortable feel to it and its dirt cheap next to half the other technologies available on the market at the moment.

  9. 1. Virtual reality has taken a massive leap with the Oculus Rift. However the Oculus Rift is not a Consumer grade product, it expensive and delicate. So Samsung has decided to create their own VR headset, one that the public can experience for themselves.

    2. This VR headset is smaller and lighter than the Oculus. Instead of it operating off of your computer, it pairs with your Samsung phone. The headset holds your phone horizontally in front of you and uses the phone's built in motion sensors(as well as the headsets sensors).

    3. This device is now trying to bring VR into the homes of the general people rather than to tech demos. You don't need an acceptable Computer to use this device, it uses your cellphone.

  10. 1) This article is about the Samsung Gear VR, a newly designed product to turn any cellular device into a virtual reality headset by using specific apps to allow it to work properly.

    2) The one quirk about this VR as opposed to other is the mobility and portability due to the ability of just hooking it up to a phone and improvements are planned on being made to it so it's a widely consumer friendly.

    3) The design looks much better and more sleek than other types of VRs, along with the price being considerably lower than other ones. Portability is a huge step up too.

  11. 1) this is about the Samsung Gear VR, I would say it's pretty much a baby version of the Oculus Rift, but this uses a smart phone and a downloadable app to work with this product. It's mainly about the Samsung in general and about what it does and how it works with smart phone use.
    2) What makes this item pretty cool is that it uses a phone instead of a heavier version like the Oculus. You could play low resolution games on it and somewhat explore Netflix and watch videos in front of your eyes. this bad boy can use motion sense to know which way you're looking at or you can simply use a controller to connect to it. This also has a cool pad on the right side to control movements and or to use as a selection tool.
    3) What this makes it leaps to virtual reality is that you can walk around with it on and is pretty easily portable cause you're using your phone with a fancy pair of goggles. There are lots of versions like this but built by different companies. for example there is the Google Cardboard. It's pretty much the same idea but made out of cardboard. Simple but yet smart. But the master of all these little guys is the Oculus that now you can buy. You can use these things as a game thing or just watch stuff. On YouTube people use these to play horror games and to show off what they can do in them. In my opinion I would not use one cause of the fear of getting blind cause you're super close to the screen, but what am I saying? I play a lot of games and i'm already blind :P. But I would say that these are a big leap into the future technology. If you seen Back to the Future there a scene where McFly's family is using a pair of these but look a lot more like the iGlass things. So old movies predicting the future bro..

  12. 1) This article is new piece of equipment that Samsung released. The new device is called the Samsung Gear VR. This makes whatever is on your phone screen appear to be in a virtual reality and 3d. You place your phone in the designated compartment and connect it. Once connected if you are playing a game that is compatible you can use your Samsung Gear VR to look around and interact.

    2) This device has a few key details. The first detail is the ability to connect with your phone. Plugging in your phone to this device brings mobile gaming into a start for console like feel. The second feature is the fact that it tracks your eyes and the motion of them. This allows the user to be able to have control with barely any effort.
What leaps in virtual reality does this device make? (Explain in detail why)
    3) The leaps it makes i bring mobile gaming and the mobile scene in general to VR. Allowing mobile creators to create games or videos for devices can be stretched to almost any VR maybe bringing companies into different scenes.

  13. 1) This article is about Samsung's new VR technology called Samsung Gear VR. Its pretty much a remake of the Oculus rift VR goggles, but it has a little more of a touch to it. It uses your phone to connect to the goggles and it lets you see things on your phone in VR reality.

    2) The things that make this device special are, 1) the display is different, 2) you can connect it to your phone, 3) you can explore netflix.

    3) It brings mobile gaming into the picture and it also brings VR into the everyday home of everyday people. It is more protective when it comes to design and overall brings gamers fantasy life close to reality.

  14. 1. The GEAR VR, is virtual reality tech internally centered around the use of mobile devices. This devices biggest competition would be Google Cardboard (which performs a very similar task), although i wouldn't really call that competition.

    2. Unlike a Viewmaster, uh I mean Google cardboard, the Samsung Gear does more than just split video feed. The Samsung Gear has motion tracking standard, while some phones wouldn't be able to use it for Cardboard.

    3. I'd say the major innovation lies in its comfort. for most products this wouldn't be much of an issue but many people have complained about *other* VR devices to be uncomfortable and unnaturally heavy.

  15. 1. This article is about Samsung's new Gear VR headset that's centered around the use of mobile devices. There's a area where you can place your phone in the headset and use the app to experience Virtual Reality with your phone.

    2. The Samsung Gear VR uses your phone to simulate a VR environment using a headset and app. but aside from that it's pretty basic VR.

    3. It's making VR more affordable since it's using loopholes and mind tricks to simulate VR.

  16. This article talks about the Samsung Gear VR and its release to markets in November. The Samsung Gear is the product of Oculus Rift's research and Samsung's engineering. It uses a combination of onboard sensors and an Android phone in order to create a sense of virtual reality.

The Smasung Gear VR is a unique device since it is the first true virtual reality product out there on the market for consumers- while there are many other prototypes, the Gear is the first one out. Excluding Google Cardboard, which... isn't all that much of a VR device.

First of all, this is the first "consumer grade" VR device, making it pretty unique right there. Additionally, the Gear has an incredibly fast update rate- about 1000 times per second- making the latency for it incredibly small. Finally, the Gear focuses on one device, and one operating system- the Samsung version of the Android OS. This allows for the Gear to perfect its performance for this single device.

  17. 1. This article is about the Samsung Gear VR which is the first consumer-grade VR product. The article is also about the games, apps, and experiences that can be downloaded and used with the headset. it is more advanced than other headsets in that it has two sets of motion trackers.
    2. The major thing that makes this head set is that it uses a samsung phone as the screen instead if a build in one.
    3. By making the first consumer ready virtual reality it paves the path for even more advanced models or systems to come forth and puts us one step closer to holograms .

  18. 1) This article is about the Samsung Gear VR, which is Samsung's crack at the emerging virtual reality field. This VR headset is interesting because it uses an Android phone and its own set of motion trackers.

    2) The most notable piece of this VR headset is its use of a Samsung phone as well as being the first real VR headset on the market that is not a prototype.

    3) The Samsung Gear VR is vastly different from other VR devices. For starters, it focuses on one OS and one device. It also is the first VR device to be available as a non-prototype.

  19. 1. This article is about the Samsung gear VR and how it is useful. It shows that it is a cheaper way for getting a oculus rift. It works by using your Android phone and inserting it into the headset.

2.It is not its own computer it is just a holder which allows it to be much cheaper.

3.It shows that virtual worlds can be accessed in other ways that are much simpler.

  20. 1. This article is about the Samsung Gear VR, which is another virtual reality head set entering the market. What makes this one stand out against the other ones, is that this one is made for mobile devices. It's design is based around the Oculous Rift, but is made compatible with an android OS.

    2. It is more of an add-on rather than it's own device.I has motion trackers and installed gestures, but you need a phone for it to work. You insert the phone into the device, and they become one. This also makes it wireless, which can be seen as a better experience to the user.

    3. This makes a great leap forward in VR technology, as long as it has people continue to work on it. Continuous work on this technology will lead to better graphics, and a more seemless use of he VR.

  21. 1. This is about a new virtual reality device called the Samsung GEAR VR. This is a part of Samsung's "GEAR" production line. (My earbuds are the GEAR circle)
    2. Basically, it's just a holder for your phone and you play a VR game on your phone and attach the device to your head like goggles looking into your phone screen. It has motion trackers to track your head motion to make it more like the Oculus Rift, but in my opinion, the oculus rift is still far better in how you can use it.
    3. It's a pretty good jump in the right direction since you don't need a computer and it's completely wireless. It just needs to have better apps to use with it and have more uses.
