  1. 1. This article is about technological singularity which is a hypothetical event related to the advent of artificial general intelligence (also known as "strong AI"). With this, we can create human brains that can live forever because they are machines. One of the problems the futurists are trying to figure out is "what is consciousness?" and the relationship between thoughts in our minds and the brains in our heads.

    2. As we grow closer to the age of technological singularity, we as a race must be thinking about these questions on what it means to be human, if we truly want to make an AI capable of being a person and not ending up like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPiUN8fb3Og

  2. 1. Sentient Artificial Intelligence, that is what this article is about. If Sentient AI (AI that parallels the human mind) were to come in existence, this article says we would experience two major revolutions, Singularity and virtual immorality. Sigularity being when the AI is so intelligent that it redesigns itself, and Virtual immorality being our minds can be uploaded to a digital brain.

    2. Honestly I do not think any of this is possible. Studying the bible has convinced me that the work load it would take to program an AI as smart as the human mind would take eons. The complexity and level of adaption built into the human mind is something that we still don't fully understand ourselves, no random explosion could've created something that complex and dynamic.

  3. 1. This article is about the concept of artificial intelligence and virtual immortality, pertaining to artificial consciousness and the construction therein of computers that can house such consciousnesses. The biggest recirculating problem in the article is simple, but it has astounding philosophical implication: just what is consciousness? How are humans able to think? By merely asking that question, you add another layer to the coated marvel of thought, further mystifying it rather than answering it in any capacity.

    2. It's truly staggering how far we've come when considering the capabilities of modern computers, and even more staggering to consider how much further we've to go to invent something like self-aware artificial intelligence. However, I don't think something like that would be very satisfying for long--you'd want your robo-girlfriend to love you unconditionally and not run off with your neighbor's robo-boyfriend instead, wouldn't you?

  4. 1. This article talks about technological singularity which is currently a hypothetical event related to artificial intelligence. According to this we can construct human brain that can live forever due to the fact being that they're machines. One of the main issues for futurists is figuring out "what consciousness is." and how it relates with the thoughts and relationships within the mind.

    2. As evolution of the human mind and body grow there are many possible drawbacks to this. I personally am not sure how I feel about this, I think time will tell depending on how it'll be used and for what.

  5. 1.) This article is talking about how they could create artificial intelligence and how they could implement that into a computer to make it sentient. In order to make something sentient, it needs the ability to reason. Unfortunately, the human mind is very complex, so it would take a long, long, long, long time.

2.) I think artificial intelligence could be done if given enough time and money to do so. The amount of work that would be needed to be done in order to have artificial intelligence be a thing in our society, would take extreme amounts of time.

  6. 1.This article goes over scientists stupid attempt to create self conscious AI that could theoretically surpass human brain. Their main question is the fact that they don't 100% know what consciousness really is so it is hard to model a machine after something you don't fully understand.
2.This is a bad idea that will turn out poorly, a seen here http://www.mnn.com/green-tech/research-innovations/stories/intelligent-robot-reveals-plans-take-over-world-chilling-interview Self ware machines are potent. Computers do not have a comprehension of morality and the risk is not worth the reward. Creating a machine to think out simple problems that could potentially destroy civilization is not exactly a fair trade.

  7. 1. This article goes into detail where technology and AI are developing to. There are two different branches of theoretical technical advancements. The progression of humans, as well as the progression of computer AI which will most likely be self aware. These two branches are labeled Singularity and virtual immorality.

    2. I like the article and I think dives deep and in detail into humanity's next age of technology. The future is usually unknown making it scary for most of us, and this helps clarify what it make look like.

  8. 1. The article is about how it would be possible to create a “superstrong” artificial intelligence, or AI, that would mimic the likes of a human being. Scientists claim it could take anywhere from ten to one hundred years to perfect such an AI, but the question isn’t can they do it, the real question is will the AI be conscious? Meaning, will it be able to understand and feel the same way we do as humans? Robert Lawrence Kuhn describes how consciousness plays the biggest role in defining us as humans, giving our minds the ability to understand things. Here’s an example: If I told you about peanut butter and how amazing it tasted, but you had never tasted it before, you wouldn’t be able to get a full understanding of it. I could describe it with the clearest possible description about how it tasted, but if you had never tried it, there would be a gap between the explanation of the peanut butter and real thing. This is the idea of Superstrong AI. Would scientists really be able to create an AI that could understand things in our world as truly as we do, or would it only mimic our understanding?

    2. In my opinion, I think this sort of thing is pushing it a little too far. I don’t like the idea of trying to create something like us like we’re playing god. I have a problem with superstrong AI like this and other things like cloning or trying to regenerate limbs. I don’t think any of it is morally right. And of course it would be really interesting to study and possibly see one day, but I just don’t think people should be messing around with that sort of stuff.

  9. 1. This article is about AI with consciousness. The main premise is what will happen when there are robots that last forever as long as they are maintained. The thing that scares people that if they have consciousness that the robot will realize their stature and revolt.

    2. My opinion is that it would be great ti have more advanced technology as long as we can restrain it. If we build something that we cant control than it creates panic which can lead to more mistakes

  10. 1. This article is discussing the possibility of AI along with consciousness, to implement within the robots, that are soon to be mainstream. They discuss the idea if a computer can have a mind of it's own, like a human. The thing that is questionable, is whether it will be possible to achieve the "consciousness" and code it into a computer, when it is truly an idea, rather than a real thing.

    2. I think it would interesting for a robot to have it's own thoughts, but there's always the potential cause of real life Terminator, but I think scientists will be able to grasp this, and prevent it. It will be an amazing achievement, whenever this happens, even if it's 100 years in the future.

  11. 1.This article is discussing AI being able to have a conciseness. Also to see if it possible to implement a human into a machine. The biggest problem is deciding whether or not a computer can have a conciseness and conciseness actually exits.

2.I think most of the philosophers are wrong because conciseness is you. It is your views. It is how events that you've seen shapes your thoughts and gets engraved into a law in your mind. Conciseness is a set of laws that are shaped of what you think is right and wrong which gets bypassed rarely. It is a conditioned response. Otherwise the article was interesting.

  12. This article is about the silicon brain. The super mind. The AI god. The matrix. Whatever you want to call it, it is an article speculating on the concept of either an AI that can mimic a human brain, or the possibility of uploading a human brain to a silicon chip. And honestly, this articles is a whole lot of speculative and meaningless junk. It is poorly written, not very well educated, and really shallow. It’s a clickbait title created to get clicks and add revenue, and was not worth my time reading. The entire article presents no evidence or argument at all, It just poses a bunch of poorly defined questions that don’t really add any value to the conversation. This, shouldn’t come as a surprise when you learn that the author works primarily in the entertainment industry and has no authority, wisdom, or value to put forth on this subject. Honestly, all this article does is ask questions, such as, what is the human conscious, and what is the human spirit. However, it does not define these questions that well and just attached them to a couple sub theories that would only apply if computational science at this level was possible. This article seems interesting if you don't really know what you are talking about. It has problems down to even the terminology it uses. If you know what AI is, then you wouldn’t apply the term AI to virtual immortality. AI is ARTIFICIAL intelligence. Converting a human into an immortal computer would not be AI, it would be Neural mapping, a non artificial process. I could rant on how terrible this article is for a while. But, at the end of the day, it was made by a entertainment journalist and I should not expect any new ideas or perspectives from them. Articles made for the pure reason of ad revenue are worthless.

  13. 1.This is an article about AI with human traits, while putting it into robots. Most people in this generation have been waiting for this time for awhile now. We all expected it to come and ya it'll be cool. Are we ready? Probably not, it don't matter cause we are going to do it anyways.

    2. I think this is amazing and I can't wait in till this is implemented in our world. Lets not take it to far though cause knowing humans its going to happened and we are all going to suffer, but its whatever R.I.P.

  14. 1. This article informed the readers about people creating AI to have human like consciousness and the concerns of doing so. People are mainly afraid of them overpowering us if they have free will. Because at that point, they do basically everything better than a human. We fear it, yet we strive for it at the same time.

    2. I think the pace of advancing technologies is amazing, but I do worry about what will come with it. Yes we can have a robot maid in our house, but what if one day they get sick of it? I don't know, it's kind of a scary thought.

  15. 1. The article is about the attempt to create the most powerful A,I. ever. They want it to be similar to the human mind in function and principle, There was brief comments about emulation a human conscience through code as well. I really wish the article had more detail in its reports though, or had some soft of source to go to to read more.

    2. Its a cool concept, but it isnt a new one. Discussions like this have been thrown around a lot over the past 10 years, and just because we are closer now, doesn't mean we are actually close enough. Give it another 10 years or so, we could expect some even better advancements towards this goal.

  16. 1) This article is about two different forms of artificial intelligence. One is a more literal interpretation, in which you would make an AI from "scratch" like you would a VI. The other involves uploading a human mind to a computer, which does pose an issue. The issue is that you would more likely be creating a copy of the persons mind rather than transferring it, meaning that it really isn't them.

    2) I think it is a cool concept, but it is actually not something I desire. For me, there are things that exist in the science fiction realm that should sty in the sci-fi realm.

  17. 1. This article delves into the topic of AI and its future. There are two main advances that will occur in the future in terms of artificial intelligence: singularity and virtual immorality. Singularity refers to the point at which AI will be able to redesign itself, allowing it to bypass the intelligence of humans. Additionally, virtual immortality will allow for humans to upload their consciousness to computers. The author of the article, however, does not believe that either will be possible.

    2. I somewhat agree with the author's opinions. While singularity might be a possibility in the future, I highly doubt that one's consciousness will be uploadable. Singularity is an incredibly interesting topic- any sort of AI with that sort of recursive functionality would be incredibly cool.

  18. 1.It's a article about AI with human traits there are two advances that will occur in the future singularity and virtual immorality. Singularity is the point when AI will be able to redesign itself allowing it to surpass human intelligence. Virtual immortality means that humans in the future would try to upload their consciousness to computers in order to achieve "immortality".

2.The idea of an A.I. surpassing humans is a scary thought I mean look at the matrix and how that ended up turning out and as for humans uploading our conscious into a computer in theory it's possible as our brains are just bags of fat with electric currents running through them I think it would be possible to make a copy of ourselves but not us.
