1. Nexus Player: The Nexus Player is a entertainment device capable of running games and apps on your television. You can listen to Pandora, watch Netflix or play any game from the Google Play store.
Apple TV: The Apple TV is the same thing as the Nexus Player, the only differences being that the games you play on it are on the App store. "It’s gonna be huge."
Roku: Roku focuses on streaming content like movies and tv shows and doesn't feature Games.
2. I really like that the Nexus Player comes with Free Online Multiplayer, and the Apple TV's remote has a touch screen which is kinda cool. I have a Roku and Enjoyed it but now we have a Amazon Fire TV and its much better in my opinion. But the Roku was really good when I wanted to Watch Netflix or Amazon Prime.
3. I liked Roku but Amazon Fire TV was so much better and I am not a fan of Apple Products so I think I would get the Nexus Player it seems very similar to the Amazon Fire TV which I like the most.
1. a) The Nexus Player is an in-home streaming system that allows connection to services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, while also coming with a gaming controller for mobile "gaming". b) The Apple TV is Apple's answer to the Nexus Player; it comes with similar functionality to the Player, with a touch-sensitive remote and voice search capabilities; it has a controller as well, but that comes for an extra charge. c) The Roku is purely a streaming device; it has no capability for game playing, it is only for watching.
2. One of the biggest things that I can appreciate about the Nexus Player is that it comes with a controller; I am of the mind that all gaming that isn't PC gaming is far inferior, but for the people that do that, it's good for them. Also, the Apple TV comes with a touch-sensitive remote and voice search, which is a bit of a gimmick to me, but it's a popular feature nonetheless. The Roku is much more focused, its' capabilities are not as wide a shot as the Apple TV or Nexus Player.
3. For my needs, I would definitely get the Roku. It's the least expensive of the three, and I don't do much of the app-using or mobile "gaming" that the other two devices are obviously geared towards.
1. Nexus Player 4: A device which allows the streaming of movies, games, and TV shows on a small, disc like, machine. Apple TV 4: The Apple TV, "It’s all about apps." You can stream games, TV, apps, and movies from a box. Roku 4: You can stream, movies, TV, Netflix, and Youtube...FROM A BOX!
2. I like the Nexus Player controller, the Apple TV remote, and the headphone jack that the Roku remote has.
3. I would most likely purchase the Apple TV, it gives the best of both worlds. It allows for in home streaming, games, and sleek controls. I know that there will be some quality assurance with this product.
1. All three of the devices are streaming consoles that display your Netflix esc. programs on your display of choice. They all their own primary software, but all have supported apps that most people use nowadays. Both the Nexus and Apple TV can play games, while the Roku is mainly focused on streaming content.
2. I like the Nexus Player’s software, the Roku’s 4K support, and the Apple TV’s remote.
3. I would personally get the Android TV capable Nexus Player, but if I could choose any streaming device I would get the newest Chromecast. At only 35 dollars it’s the best of both worlds as it’s small and is all controlled through your smartphone.
1) The Nexus Player is a multipurpose entertainment device that allows apps and games to be streamed to the television. The Apple TV is quite similar in comparison to the Nexus Player because it can also play games and stream stuff. The Roku is just mainly meant to be a streaming platform.
2) The Nexus Player has a controller which I quite like, the Apple TV has a nice remote and the headphone jack is useful from the Roku.
3) I'd get the the Nexus Player because it has the most useful amount of capabilities to me, also I'm an Android user so I usually prefer to stick to things of the same brand.
1.All three are pretty much the same technology. They are mainly streaming devices that utilize services such as Netflix, hulu, and crackle. With the exception of the Apple device, which utilizes Apple services much like the iPhone. 2. The nexus functions as a gaming machine, although i would never use it I still think its cool. The apple uses apple specific apps rather than licensed material.Last but not least the Roku, being the only one i have used I can say i like its ease of use 3.As i stated before I like the Roku the most because of its easiness to use. It works great.
1. The Nexus Player and Apple TV are basically the same machine, that stream apps and games to televisions, the main difference being operating systems and compatibility. Thankfully, the Roku is different. The Roku can access Tv channels and other streaming apps.
2. It's nice that the Nexus Player runs off a the Google Play store and has gaming support sold with it. I think the Apple Tv has the best design overall, you can tell a lot of time went into designing it. The thing I like most about Roku, is all the different models and variations.
3. I'd probably get a Roku machine so my family could finally get rid of my television subscription
1. All of these devices are like a mix between tv and the internet. The provide interfaces where you can choose between regular tv and apps such as NetFlix, Hulu, and YouTube. They can be bought as individual attachments like the Roku, or they be built in the tv like the smart tv, Aplletv, and Roku in some cases.
2. I like the Roku main interface and how it it diverse in its organization tools. I like the support of the Apple tv and its development, probably because of apples superpower and great funding.
3.The easy handling and mobility of the Roku is a great and something that i already own.
1. All three of the devices in this week’s blog are streaming devices. This seems to be the new way of watching TV, usually free from ads and commercials and being able to watch what you want when you want. Most of the channels available are a monthly subscription somewhere around 10 to 20 dollars. Right now there are three big devices hitting home these days, the Nexus Player, Apple TV, and the Roku. Each has streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Youtube, each providing HD quality video. The Nexus Player is a big time device designed to almost turn your TV into an Android android phone. It’s got all the streaming services, but it also provides android apps and games able to be played with a separate controller. The Apple TV is, well, Apple. On your TV. Apple felt like they could take over the market by having the exact same product and by putting their logo on it could make it worth three times as much as it needs to be. (Not an Apple fan in the slightest). The last being the Roku provides a whole brand new service, exclusive to their product. Although it’s just another streaming device, it’s a whole lot cheaper being anywhere from 40 to 130 dollars.
2. With the Nexus Player, I like the idea of being able to take my google account and use it to download compatible games and apps from my phone and look at them on a nice HD screen. It would just be a nice change I’d like to see with the device. The Apple TV (along with the others) works well as something you can have, but not make it so noticeable it needs it own shelf under your TV to use. And with the Roku I love the Sling service, where you can watch TV in real time, but not have to worry about commercials and even watch episodes you missed by just going to the guide and finding it.
3. I actually own a Roku device, and it’s perfect. As I said above, the Roku is a nice price (I have a 40 dollar one that’s perfect), it’s a nice size that can clip to the back of any TV, and it has great services with all of the different channels it provides. As I said before, it offers the Sling Service, which is a new service exclusively for the Roku device. I love the way you can just watch new TV episodes if you don’t have cable (like myself) but do have a device like this. I recommend the Roku whenever I hear someone looking for a streaming device, and I can honestly say I’ve never had any complaints towards it.
1. a) The Nexus Player 4 streams apps and games from the Google Play store to a TV. It runs off of a modified version of an android os. It has a standard little tv-like remote, and it has a gaming controller based off of an Xbox controller.
b) The Apple TV 4 is similar to the Nexus, but it runs on a different operating system, and gets it's apps from the Apple App Store. It only has one controller, but it has Siri built into it.
c) The Roku 4 streams TV Channels, rather than a Hulu or Netflix app, and you can also stream games on it as well. It only has one remote, but it has a headphone jack built into it, so you can watch or play what you want without disturbing anyone else.
2. For the Nexus, i like the other controller you can use. For the Apple Tv, Siri is very cool, but the way the remote is layed out, with the toutch pad on the top is really cool. And for the Roku, I love the headphone jack on the remote.
3. I would either buy the Roku or the Nexus. I absolutely love the headphone jack on the remote, but I couldn't find the same apps on the Google Play Store. Plus the other controller on the Nexus is really cool.

The Roku 4 streams TV Channels, and you can stream games on it as well. It has a remote which has a headphone jack built into it, so you can do whatever you want and use the headphones to keep the peace bois.
2. For the Nexus, I feel like the controller is really good. For the Apple Tv, the way the remote is layed out, with the touch pad on the top is really cool which is similar to the playstation 4 controller, and for the Roku, the headphone jack was a great way to keep the peace.
3. I would buy the Nexus, for mostly the controller just because its really nicely designed and i'm sure it would be a very useful controller for whatever I need it for. .
1) Nexus Player 4: The Nexus 4 allows streaming of Netflix Prime Instant Video, YouTube, etc. It can connect to almost any device, computer, laptop, tablet, phone, etc. and allows for voice input. You must have wifi available at your house (why it doesn't allow Ethernet, idk, it really should because its so much faster.) It comes with a console style gaming controller.
Apple TV 4: The Apple TV is pretty much the same as the Nexus. It runs off of the Apple OS and allows apps from the app store.
Roku 4: The Roku is similar to the others. The only real difference is that it has a headphone port built into the remote, so you can watch it without waking up everybody in the house at 4 in the morning.
2) I like the gaming controller for the Nexus. The Apple tv has acess to a vast amount of apps from the app store, and the roku has the headphone port built into the remote.
3) I would get the Roku because its the cheapest and it has the headphone port.
1.Nexus Player 4 streams apps and games from the Google Play store to a TV. The Apple TV is pretty much the same as the Nexus but it runs on a different operating system. The Roku is a streaming device as it's meant to only stream and cant play games.
2.I like the touchscreen on the apple tv everything else is pretty much the same.
3.The roku because I like to watch streaming services a lot so it would benefit me more.
1. The Roku 4, Nexus Player, and Apple TV are all similar in function. Each device attempts to change the way a user streams television. They offer portability and a wide array of extra functions along with traditional television streaming. The Roku is meant to be a smart television, offering a modified home screen when using it. The Nexus player is similar, except the device is meant to be more compatible with Google devices. Finally, the Apple TV can function as a normal television, along with having an entirely unique app store and a remote powered by Siri.
2. With all devices, I like their portability- furthermore, I would definitely make use of their extra features. The new app store for Apple TV would be quite interesting to explore, and using the remote for the Nexus Player would also be a unique experience. I would also like to use the portability of the Roku TV.
3. I would probably purchase the Roku, due to the fact that it is portable and inexpensive. While it doesn't quite have all of the functions that the Apple TV or Nexus Player has, I would still definitely get much use out of it. It would be interesting to explore the uses for this device.
