  1. 1. This article is about the SkyTran system, which is in it's planning system. It is a sort of monorail style system, but it works more like a taxi cab.

    2. The Pros are faster travel, less street traffic, ect. The cons are potential prices, ugly sky rails all over the place, and lack of other options.

    3. I think this is pretty cool, and I wouldn't mind seeing this in big cities in the future.

"Driverless pods, gliding above city streets using a network of elevated guideways. This is SkyTran -- but is it the future?" The idea is of a predetermined air taxi, basically users can "book" a pod and then go to one of the various platforms where their floating taxi will stop off the rails and pick them up. For $10,000,000 a mile and city can have floating taxis that pick them up from virtually anywhere, the first working demonstration is set for sometime this year.

2.What are the pros and cons of this?
    PROS:
    Pretty rad concept
    could eliminate most traffic.
Able to be set to a persons schedule.
    Faster transit times.
    CONS:
    Costly
Could clog up a cities' airspace
who wants to see a taxi go by their office?

    3. What is your opinion of this? '
I think it's a cool idea that could be the future of city travel, really has that "Star Wars" feel to that is cool. I would use it, they just need to make sure it is safe and operational and won't come crashing down out of the sky and kill tons of people.

  3. What is the article about?
This article is about a computer automated hanging light rail system that would use a mixture of maglev and gravity to take people to a destination. It would be entirely computer automated and would have no operator. It would function in small pods instead of large trains like in a conventional light rail

What are the pros of this?
    Pros:
Fast, effective, and does not interfere with roads.

What are the cons of this?/What is your opinion of this?
This type of technology would require a very expensive infrastructure to service only these specific pods on a certain track. Getting the materials alone for a SkyTran network would be in the millions. Add that on top of the even more expensive process of getting zoning for all of the rail lines. It would take years and billions of dollars to get a network to be authorized and planned. That would be even before a single rail was placed down. The prospect is cool but also very unfeasible. Not impossible by any means. But you just couldn’t justify the cost in a large american city. Systems like this will likely pop up in small test areas around the globe as a proof of concept, but this will never go full scale to anything larger than a medium sized city. If you want to see large scale transportation that is actually sensible and cost effective, look towards Elon Musk’s Hyperloop.

  4. 1. SkyTran pod that is a magnetically levitating computer controlled pod. It's is a train system that would be built above the city in a grid system. There are multiple "off ramps" that act as docking stations. The concept is that, when you go to one of these stations you can call a SkyTran.

    2. Pros: SkyTran is said to use only a third of the electricity used by one of today's hybrid cars. Just one of the pods weigh 300 pounds making it light and fast. Being built in the air is probably the biggest pro. This allows rails to be built almost any where.

Cons: Each pod only holds two people. So for this to be really effective, there needs to be a lot of these pods.

    3. I think it is a good concept and a good way to deal with heavy traffic. However in order to make this, wherever a track is built there will be construction. This would cause more traffic at the time, which would be a major inconvenience. Then if there are multiple constructions sites would just amplify this. And if the track is built over time, there is a risk of it end up coasting more than expected. As far as a mode of transportation, I think the pods need to be larger. Right now the pods only hold two people, in a city like New York or Chicago this would help traffic but not as much as the inventors imagine.

  5. 1- The idea is that there is a new system that can replace traffic in general, leaving a new way for people to move without adding to traffic. The article says that the system uses a magnet levitating computer which is more energy efficient.

2- Pros- The Cars would get rid of a lot of traffic and be more cost effective than modern day transportation. Along with this, it will allow for a more energy efficant way to travel.
Cons- Because this is an automated system with a constant speed. times will be easy to predict, This will cause the saftey of others to be put at serious risk. As well as that there is the issue that one car can only fit two AVERAGE people. And along with that, there are the normal problems of adding a new transit, it will cost a lot of money and be prone to break down.

3- The idea is solid. It reminds me a lot of the monorail in disney land. Bassically its a cheaper way for big citys to move people and its much better than what we having going today. If we had more money, The goverment would probably take this up. As they should, because it is a good idea.

  6. 1.) This article is about the Skytran and what it does. The Skytran is basically a
    monorail that is upside-down.

2.) The Pros: They can be anywhere because no one is really using up the sky, They carts are not very heavy which will let the Skytran move even faster. It also does not use much energy at all.
The Cons: Each cart can not hold many people in them and these would be very costly.

3.) In my opinion these are really cool but wont be available for a long time because of how much money they will cost us. Nonetheless I do think they are very cool.

  7. 1. This article is about the Skytran, which is basically a tram system that people can call like a taxi service. The idea for the Skytran came about with the idea that people wait too long for train services and bus schedules, but having a transportation system that goes around your time is the way of the future for public transportation.

    2. The pros are it uses up much less energy than most electric systems, and it’s a much faster and reliable system on transportation. The cons are that it will probably cost about $10 million per mile. Another could possibly be the safety of it. Not that it would break or fall, but how easily is it protected? If it’s going to be run on a computer system and by text/app on phones, how easy would it be to hack? Anyone could take control and send the pod somewhere else or break it or anything.

    3. I think it would be an interesting idea, but I just have so many questions and problems with it that need explaining. (At least to me) Like I said above, what about the security? How easy would it be to hack into a system like that? Would it be safe to ride everywhere in the city? I would love to see this in action, but that’s my biggest concern with the Skytran.

  8. 1. This article is about a revolutionary way to get from place to place. It is called SkyTran, and it is basically like a subway above ground. When going to the Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport, you first park your car, then take a train from the parking garage to your terminal. Those kind of terminal trains are what they are planning on replicating, the only differences being that the trains are smaller and will be in densely populated areas.
    2. One of the pros of this tremendous idea is that it prevents you from waiting in traffic. Also, you don't have to drive at all. It drives for you! In addition, you can make a reservation for one on your phone. This innovation would be extremely helpful in extremely crowded cities like New York City. It would make the streets a lot less crowded, which would benefit a lot of people. Plus, this system is extremely eco-friendly. Each SkyTran requires only a third of the electricity used by today's hybrid cars. Like with almost anything else, there are some cons with this concept. First off all, to incorporate this system into a city would cost ten million dollars per mile. Also, instead of seeing a beautiful sky, people would see this system above them.
    3. I like this system, but I think the cost is an extremely big factor. Also, I personally enjoy driving, so I don't think I would want to give that up. Then again, I don't live in an extremely crowded area. If I was at a humungous university or extremely dense and populated city, then I would welcome this idea.

  9. 1) This article is about a new form of transportation. It is supposedly more fuel efficient and convenient for those who use it. It is not a new concept, and is essentially just a train in the sky, however, has more downfalls.
    2) Pros include the futuristic appearance of the car. Cons include the price, the fact that even though it is in the sky it still takes up floor space for the columns, and the fact that creating sky structures would not be optimal for those on mountains or anyone with a view. People must also still drive to the station, making it a pretty dumb idea, since most people wouldn't want to waste that much time except on the rare occasion.
    3) I find this idea prosperous.

This article is about the Sky Tran and how it is a new form of transportation, it talks about the efficiency for the fuel and some other advantages. It says it would only cost a million dollars per mile.
2.What are the pros and cons of this?
    Pros: it would look cool
Cons: everything else: it would cost millions of dollars, it is not more fuel efficient, it is immobile, it is not faster then regular trains

    3. What is your opinion of this?
I think this is a really bad idea and would not end up saving the state any money, it is going to end up ruining an entire economy and plunging the entire world into economic turmoil.

  12. 1. The article is about an ‘above road’ public transportation system that has been introduced. The Skytrain will be called by an individual from their smart device, with inputted destination, and you reserve the car. You are then picked up from a location and taken straight to your destination, or the nearest station by your destination.

    2. The pros are quicker, nicer, and easier public transportation methods. The cons are it is not about to pick you up from a direct location and take you to a direct location. This transportation system requires two stations.

    3. In my opinion, the Skytrain is a great idea, but we have newer technology that is going to outbid and make the skytrain idea fail. Having to have two stations and not direct transportation is going to limit the use of this system. The project is also going to need to be built from the ground up, and not have the ability to utilizing previous tracks or lines.

  13. 1. This article shows advances in public transportation. They have created a pod that is very fuel efficient and doesn't go under ground therefore saving money on building it. So in a summary its a very fuel efficient train that's in the sky.

    2. There are many pros and cons to this invention but I believe there are more pros than cons. The pros would be that we would save money by not creating expensive subways therefore saving money. They are very fuel efficient because they are only 300 pounds. The cons of this would be that everyone would ditch their cars and only ride the skytrans therefore over crowding them and making the streets completely useless.

    3. I believe this invention is genius but not very practical I mean your making a train that could possibly take out cars completely. I say make a test trial and see what happens.

  14. 1. this article is about a new sky transit system that is in development .,the ideas is a type of sky taxi that you charter with your phone and that has many stops on it monorail system sort of like a personal subway car in the sky. Its currently in development in telaviv.

    2. the pros would be a very cheap alternative to a subways system as well as being fast. the cons are there are no plans to install it in the states and it would rely on large dens populations where driving isn't an easy thing to do. so installing it in phoenix wouldn't get i ta lot of muse.

    3. it seems like a Good idea but I don't think that its going to work out. most cities already have systems in place like this and installing this in place like new York would be redundant. also they didn't mention any plans for the states which leads me to believe its not being marketed here.
