1. Police body cameras are intended to protect the rights of the people, to ensure police exercises and quality, and to be used as a reference and evidence in court.
ReplyDelete2. The pros of police body cameras are described above, along with correctly serving the people with accurate evidence and trials. The cons of police body cameras are budgeting, management, failure, editing, etc. They are vulnerable at the moment and take more time out the workers day to charge, place on uniform, and manage. This costs tons of money, which negatively effects our economy, and more money from the tax payers, like me.
3. I do believe police officers should be require to wear body cameras. This ensures they are doing their job correctly, and they will have evidence of the events that occurred along with an accurate trail. Although they will be expensive to manage, they act as a just and civil way of recording events accurately.
1. The police body camera is a camera that is placed on a police officer to observe their actions. The overall purpose of the police officer camera is to limit the public's complaints on officers because of excessive force.
ReplyDelete2. Their are so many pros about the police officer camera such as it shows exactly what their doing at any given time limiting corrupt cops. Another pro of this device is this can be used as evidence against people their arresting. Like Anthony said it would cost a lot of money.
3. I think police officers should be required to wear them so people can back up their claims against police officers. Most police officers believe their above the law and this technology limits what they do. Most corrupt cops would be caught and suffer the consequences.

1) Police body cameras are hoping to be a way to lessen the effect of police brutality. The people always complain that the police are too forceful but having a camera strapped to them may stop that claim. If the have video footage of how much force they used, or possibly the reason why they used the amount of force they used.
ReplyDelete2) The pros of this device are that the people may stop complaining that police only beat up on innocent suspects if they're able to see the footage. If there's visual footage there would be no denying why an officer used such force. Possibly he was about to be attacked or was even being attacked, but if there are no witnesses, then they can't confirm. Having a camera may make it easier to decide whether or not it was acceptable. However, I cant really find a downside to this idea. It's a good way to track policemen/women, and the police are there to enforce the law.
3) I do think they should wear them, not because I don't trust the police, but because then it may stop cases in which the officer was accused of police brutality. If there was video footage, then it wouldn't give the people a reason to have doubt.
1. Police body cameras are a way to help the police force do their job; serve and protect. They are designed to make sure officers are held responsible for their actions, and tape crimes in action as well as the subduing of the criminals.
ReplyDelete2. The pros here greatly outweigh the cons. Sure it may cost taxpayers a bit more, but in the end, as long as this footage becomes available to the public when a certain case arises, people will be able to come to an accurate judgement in cases of potential police brutality and unfair treatment of criminals or otherwise.
3. I believe that the police should be required to wear them. This system will help honest cops get the respect they deserve and force the bad ones to behave better.
1.) Police body cameras are meant to be used as evidence catchers in court and they are meant to keep police men in line, to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to do. This also keeps them from becoming corrupt.
ReplyDelete2.) The police body cameras pros are that it keeps police men from becoming corrupt, it makes sure they are doing their job, and it catches evidence that may be used against people in court. Examples of cons are the cameras don't always function the way they were meant to and they are very expensive and hard to handle.
3.) I do believe they should wear them for the same reason we students should wear our ID's, it is protocol and without them we may not be able to see evidence that can change the outcome of a court crime.
1- Due to the all of the violent actions of police officers recently, the public has been in outcry. One of the options given was to make it mandatory for all officers to carry a small camera on their vest.
ReplyDelete2- The Pros of the device are police who try to get away with doing things that may be considered to be wrong, will be less tempted to do so. It will also enable for justice to be carried out correctly. Cons are that no one is perfect, and that police officers will make mistakes. It would also cost a BUTT ton of money, and would take a lot to manage.
3- I think that in a perfect world, it would be good, but we dont live in a world that will allow for that to happen. In the long run, criminals would find more outs, police officers messing up maranda rights, ect. It would be another out for horrible people who did horrible things. So NO.
1.Police body cameras are a way of trying to keep the police honest. They help serve as a way of monitoring police officers in a more accurate way to help prevent the police violence that has become prevalent lately.
ReplyDelete2.The pros of this device are one it keeps the cops honest and stops them from doing things that are illegal. It also helps them gather evidence in a much more convincing format to help them put away actual criminals. The cons are it can be tamped with and it could also cost a lot to outfit every officer with a camera. It could also provide an ethical issue with always preventing people from being filmed against there will. although it will make shooting the tv show Cops much easier.
3. I cant honestly see a reason why this is a bad idea cops need to be kept honest because a lot of them are not and as the recent shooting have demonstrated they are very capable of making the wrong decsiison
1. Body cameras are a way to monitor police activity while they are out in the field working, people blame the police for all the violence that happens in the world and thus feel that the police force has lost the trust of the general public and must be subject to wearing cameras so that it is impossible for them to lie.
ReplyDelete2. Pro: Police can't lie, potential criminals will be filmed should they resist arrest, helps to gain evidence because no body trusts the word of the police anymore. The show cops will have more film reels.
Cons: The cost would be a huge on the nation, people would complain that they are being filmed without their will.
3. I believe cops in troubled areas should wear them due to the tensions between minority groups and the police force, it would allow the police to back up their story even in the face of minority groups who claim they lie to save themselves.
1. Research police body cameras and describe what their purpose is.
ReplyDeletePolice body cameras are used to collect data whenever an incident happens and can be used to provide evidence in court whenever an issue arises. It forces the officers to be self conscious and can lead to them thinking out there decisions before they act. This leads to less complaints about excessive violence and can resolve issues in the court without running into a he said/she said debate.
2. What are the pros/cons of this devise?
^Device is spelled with a “c”.
Pros:
As listed above, it can be used in court to resolve issues and is a preventative measure as it makes officers second-guess their violent actions.
Cons:
They have a cheap entrance fee, but in numbers they can record massive amounts of footage that requires large and expensive infrastructure to store and manage.
3. Do you believe that police officers should be required to wear them?
If the resources are available and they have the infrastructure to support the data recorded, they should be required to wear them. The benefits of this device are enormous. They not only serve as evidence for potential victims, but also for for the officers because it will allow them to show their actions and justify them whenever hey are accused of excessive force.
1) Police body cameras were designed with the idea that in a situation where an officer's actions were questioned, the public, courts, or anyone else may be able to review the footage to determine if foul play was involved.
ReplyDelete2) With a perfectly running system, the pros to the device are abundant. It can put both the officer as well as citizens at ease, assuming both are in the right. For officers who tend to get more agressive, these could be detrimental to their career. It also can prove citizens really are doing things to an officer that requires action, which would be good for the police that are following legal requirements. Cons also include the fact that many people will take the footage and slow it down, takw timw speculating, and so on. In reality, police are only human, and even then they didn't have that luxury. They were forced to make a split second decision, one involving not only their own life, but the lives of others around them. It's a factor many will not take into account.
3) I believe police should wear the body cameras. Though they have their limitations, it would provide more solid information than was ever available before. The courts should just be told to use them to verify fact only, and not as a means to attempt to see if there was a better alternative to any action the officer took.
1. Body cameras were made to protect both citizens as well as the officers. The idea behind them is that, they eliminate a situation of he said she said. If a cop's story is different from a witness's story, the camera's video would hopefully clear things up.
ReplyDelete2. Pros: What I said above is the main pro for the cameras. But other benefits would be less corruption because officers will be on camera. This would make it so cops can't abuse their power and if they brake any rules they can be properly punished.
Cons: The cameras could be hacked and footage could be lost (like water gate). Another con is the cost, implementing all the cameras as well as any extra costs would add up and would cost a lot. It could also be a hindrance to a cop if he/she needs to act very quickly to a situation, they might not be able to turn the camera on or they'll spend time turning it on and miss their opportunity.
3. I think a testing period should be implemented first. The reason for this is so that if there are any major bugs in the system wouldn't affect as many people. Then after most the bugs are worked out start releasing it to more areas. Overall I think they should be used only because it would help protect both civilians and cops.

1. Police body cameras are used to monitor police officers on duty. The concept is that they will act and serve better if they are on camera. And those that break rules will have video evidence used to prosecute them.
ReplyDelete2. Pros: This could decrease the corruption involved in the police force and keep officers honest. It would also insure that those officers who abuse their positions will be properly prosecuted. Cons: If officers are concerned about being recorded, they may hesitate to react and it could slow down the efficiency of the police force, possibly putting lives in danger.
3. I think that the body camera has the potential to work. However, there is a social line that needs to be tested in regards to the amount of time and the level of privacy these officers have. Because too little could hamper their jobs.
1. Research police body cameras and describe what their purpose is.
ReplyDeleteThey are cameras that police people were so they can have more evidence against the people that they are trying to arrest. The body cameras also can be used to make sure the police officers do not take advantage of people.
2. What are the pros/cons of this device?
Pro:
Police cannot take advantage of anyone
They can prove they did not take advantage
They would have evidence against criminals
Cons:
Expensive
Repairs
Rights to not be filmed without consent
3. Do you believe that police officers should be required to wear them?
I don't really have my opinion developed quite yet on that now, but I think so. They probably should so they cannot hurt anybody and so the courts how have more definitive evidence.
